Biography: Reaching out for help can be an intimidating endeavor, but having the awareness that your life is not where you want it to be is a great first step. While I generally focus on the present, as we cannot change things that have already happened, we may look to the past in our search for previous success in managing the issues before you. I believe the trust built between client and therapist is the most important aspect in the counseling relationship and the pursuit and maintenance of this trust is an ongoing process. Whether you have been struggling for years or experiencing a new obstacle, I believe we can work through the concerns together. The strength it takes to ask for help is the same strength that will lead you to happiness. I completed my Master's of Science in Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2005. I have been working as a mental health therapist for nearly 19 years in Nebraska. I have experience working with individuals, couples and families struggling with a variety of issues, such as anxiety and depression, trauma, anger management, life transitions and infidelity. I believe I bring a multi-faceted perspective to my work, as I have professional experience with inpatient care, case management, as well as outpatient therapy. Typically, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing while always stressing the importance of building the relationship between client and therapist based on trust, mutual respect, and unconditional positive regard. I look forward to the opportunity to help people with life issues that have left them unsatisfied. Our growth is a life-long journey and sometimes we lean on others in pursuit of our true potential. My hope is that I can assist people on their path when they are looking for guidance.

Biography: Hello, I have had 15 years experience in the mental health field, 9 years being a licensed therapist and drug and alcohol counselor. I graduated from Doane University, Nebraska in 2015 with a Masters in Counseling. Most of my experience has been with Older Adults, adolescents, Adults, Families, Couples, and Substance Abuse. I utilize treatment approaches of CBT, DBT, Existential, Client-Centered, Reality, Narrative, and Solution-Focused. I focus on the approach that works best with my clients. Building a great rapport with my clients is important to me to help them face problems and achieve goals. Personally, I am a wife, a mother of three young children, a daughter, sister, and friend. Biography: I am licensed in Nebraska with 13 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients of all ages with stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, parenting issues, & depression. I also have experience with clients ages 4-18 years of age who struggle with severe behavior issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, and challenges of life. I have worked with the parents/caregivers of varying ages with parenting concerns, life struggles, and trauma. I have been described as patient, compassionate, and caring. I am straightforward, often clients have said our sessions are more like a conversation. I have an undergraduate degree in elementary education, and I say I like to sneak into therapy. Also, I must be a detective at times, and in conversation, I will often learn things I may not have otherwise because clients feel it is irrelevant. I can see patterns of behavior or possible triggers. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. My mission is to see clients be successful in achieving their goals not only in therapy but in life. I always say, "I am here to guide you, and you do all the hard work." When goals are created, I make sure it is realistic, achievable, and short to start with, long-term goals will come when and if the client wishes to create them. I may push a bit but never outside of your comfort zone. I feel it is important, to be honest in therapy, to help keep clients in a comfortable and safe environment. If I recommend something and the client is not comfortable or knows they will not do it, being honest about it saves time and a different recommendation can be made. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

Biography: I don't see myself as a "therapist." I see myself as support. Someone you can talk to. I want to help you find purpose and happiness in your life. You are struggling. I know you are. I want to help you find balance and be successful in your future. I have a strong desire to help people through therapy and education. I want to teach you the skills you need to help yourself. I have experience working with all different types of symptoms. I like to get to know people. I like when people get their "ah-ha" momentwhen they light up and figure it out. You will do the work, and I will get to be there for it. That's why I do what I do. I have experience in many different areas of clinical work. I volunteered in a hospice clinic for about one year. I was able to sit next to people in their final moments. Working with those families was the most rewarding experience because I got to be there with the people they love when they couldn't. Working people who impacted by death and dying is my truest passion. I have almost two years' experience working at an addiction center/homeless center working with individuals and running groups. This is not my passion, but I met several colleagues, and I learned a ton about myself as a therapist and as a person here. I worked at a therapy agency for three years. I worked with families, survivors of abuse, and children. I used trauma-focused processed to help my clients manage symptoms and develop healthy coping skills to thrive. I decided to leave this agency because it also wasn't my passion. Additionally, I wanted to be home more to be with my family. My therapy approach is non-judgmental, kind, gentle, and goal driven. I can help you help you see both sides of any situation and find the answers you already have inside of you, by listening and helping you to be rational. I will help you keep moving and growing in your life. I can help you acknowledge good and bad feelings and validate them. I will also teach you to accept them as feelings and not fact. Together, we can sort this out.

Biography: Welcome! My name is Krisha and I have been a mental health therapist in Nebraska for 26+ years and on the BetterHelp platform for the past 5 years. I am a Christian Counselor and hold licenses in Nebraska and Iowa. I have been blessed to be a servant of God as I work with clients to help them navigate His will and find purpose in life. I have been honored and love to hear the stories of all people! I listen with empathy and try to understand the circumstances, issues and concerns that a person brings to the process. In an effort to offer hope, I encourage an assessment of strengths in how people cope in their lives and make decisions. I work alongside people to define a treatment plan and goals that they are motivated to work towards. I strive to offer comfort and encouragement in the journey. I have had the opportunity to work with clientele dealing with all sorts of emotions, circumstances, tragedies, and relationship problems over the years. Some of these are consequences brought on by their own actions and others are dealing with what has happened to them. Assisting people to gain insight in the midst of their circumstances and develop a perspective that offers hope, meaning and purpose gives me great satisfaction! I have offered counseling in private practice and I have done so at least part time for the entirety of my career. I have also worked at a mental health center, led groups for domestic violence perpetrators and victims and grief for military families dealing with loss, led parenting training and have been involved in other roles that have given me experience in the field. I am a member of the professional organization, (AACC) American Association of Christian Counselors and receive the latest techniques and trainings offered with a Christian perspective. I have held a mental health license in Nebraska since 1999. Due to the pandemic, leadership and mental health boards wrote executive orders allowing waivers for practitioners to provide therapeutic interventions in states that they did not hold an active license. This was in an effort to ensure that citizens in the respective states were able to access telehealth services in a timely manner. Most providers were able to include online services to their offerings, and most of these waivers issued by Governors have since expired and not been extended. I did contact Iowa's state licensing board, and put in an application. I was granted a license in Iowa starting in February of 2021 and continued through September of 2022. I currently hold active licenses in Nebraska and Iowa, allowing full privileges to provide counseling services to clients both in person and via telehealth services. I was career and ministry oriented for years prior to marrying my husband, a farmer/rancher, of 17 years. Together, we have been blessed with five beautiful children, ages ranging from the oldest 16 to the youngest age 8. Finding balance between work and home has at times been a challenge, but I remain committed to use my skills to be a helper in any format that I can and with the time I have to offer. I was diagnosed in December of 2022 with early onstage breast cancer. I have been blessed by the active treatment that I have received and am considered a survivor with a very optimistic prognosis. I share this as I believe that there is purpose in the challenges of our lives and it can often give us credibility and help us to offer deeper compassion as we listen to those who are entrusted with our care. I am an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and serve in a variety of roles at church. I enjoy all sorts of crafts, adventures, sports, hobbies and activities as time permits. It takes courage to consider making changes as sometimes we just get comfortable and accept where we are as normal. Sometimes the pain of staying the same becomes much more heavy than the actual cost of making a change. I applaud you for taking that step to seeking your best life. I would love to come alongside you to hear your story, support and empower you to do what you need to meet those goals. God Bless you as you make this investment into your future! But only with God are perfect wisdom and might; He alone has true counsel and understanding. Job 12:13

Biography: Hi! My name is Andrea Joyce. I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner in the state of Nebraska, a Licensed Mental Health Clinician in the state of Iowa, and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas. I have been in practice for 16 years. I work with diverse populations and have certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Adoption Competency (TAC), and Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT). I specialize in treating trauma and am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), I also treat depression, anxiety, grief, and PTSD, in addition to other mental health concerns. I have worked in an agency setting, a university setting and with Law Enforcement. I also work very closely with foster care and juvenile court in my face to face practice. I believe to heal we have to focus forward and honor ourselves and our expereinces that have made us who we are. I believe therapy is a process that is best facilitated by taking a person centered approach and creating a safe space to begin the process of healing. By meeting the person where they are at in life, they learn to understand the path that has led them to seek growth and to work to acquire the skills needed to be successful and strong. Focus should be strength based. Just because a person is struggling, doesn't mean they are failing. Focus on what is working and how that can be strengthened to bridge them through those struggles and get to the other side, where they can feel the success to keep moving, and thus, focusing forward. I am so grateful to be able to take this journey with you. Andrea Joyce MS,LIMHP,LMHC,LCPC,NCC,CBPC

It is important to remember that you are a partner with your Counselor as you find the right treatment plan for you. You have a voice in your healthcare decisions, and it is important to communicate your goals and preferences clearly to get the highest quality of care.
Ways to advocate for yourself during appointments include: preparing questions in advance to ask your doctor, bringing someone with you to listen and take notes, asking your Counselor to clarify when you do not understand something, and being honest when you have concerns.
If you are unsure about a recommended treatment, tell your doctor you want to seek a second opinion. A quality Counselor will not take offense at this; rather, a good doctor wants to get as much information as possible to make the right treatment choice. If your Counselor does question your interest in a second opinion, it may be a sign that another Counselor may be a better fit for you.
