Care Philosophy: Most of my clients live in fear around how much food they eat or do not eat. Their relationship with food has evolved into one of pain and hiding versus pleasure and health. Clients ultimately can reach a place where they discover choice, freedom and inner peace.

Biography: Though I have 28 years of experience working in various mental health areas, my current focus is on trauma, as well as grief and loss issues especially those related to infant loss, miscarriage and fertility challenges. I have both personal and professional experience with these issues. My training is the area of Art Therapy and I use a midfullness approach. Processing issues visually, through the use of art materials is both enjoyable and allows for a short-cut to our emotion centers. Outside of work I enjoy being in nature with my family, hiking, boating, camping, and paddleboarding. I practice yoga and enjoy playing volleyball.

Biography: I have been in helping roles for the last 33 years. Early in my career I worked in Correctional Institutions with both teens and adult males. Those early years were so very formative for me as a person and really shaped my path moving forward. After 16 years I left the correctional setting and worked in an educational setting for the last 15 years. Quite a change and a whole different set of experiences added to my skill set. Out of my masters program I worked at a wellness center with a wide variety of clients including, transgender, gay and lesbian, couples, and military clients experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). All of these combined experiences have really diversified my ability to be a good counselor. I feel so very fortunate for these past experiences and I look forward to new challenges. I truly feel fortunate when a person shares their story with me and it is very satisfying to help people in this role. I would describe my approach as goal oriented, and client centered. I have an eclectic mix of styles but believe that I need to meet you where you are and we can determine from that point what modality is best for your issues. Remember your take away must work for you beyond counseling! I am based in Carl Rogers humanistic approach and believe that you as the client are the expert on you! I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, DBT, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). These modalities are hands-on, practical approaches to problem-solving. CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking patterns and or behaviors. The goals are to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind difficult situations, and so change the way they feel. This helps people identify faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking and learn better ways of coping with life's full variety of stressors. I am also a fan of mindfulness techniques and believe that it brings focus into a person life when they need it most. I have a tremendous amount of experience working with troubled teens and adults and feel at ease with difficult issues and topics. Counseling in a correctional setting taught me that life is precious and people can work toward second chances. I am open to new challenges and really appreciate learning new skills that can be added to a wealth of experience accumulated to date. I look forward to working with you! On a personal note, I have been married 30 years to a wonderful and patient woman! We have two great sons and two dogs named Otto and Milly who are adorable. Being married 30 years requires work on both partners parts and it is not always perfect but with good communication and effort life can be quite enjoyable.

Biography: Hello! My name is Dana and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado and Texas. I truly believe that one of the bravest things anyone can do is begin to understand their own story. Hopelessness, depression, anxiety, racing thoughts, and emotional pain are just some of the issues many people feel overwhelmed by and struggle with on a daily basis. Oftentimes, people begin to accept these feelings as part of their normal life. As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe space where clients can feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings, disappointments, and fears without judgment. Everyone faces their own set of struggles, but that does not mean you have to face them alone. I graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Master of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling. I have worked in private practice with individuals that are struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, domestic violence, relationship conflict, gender and sexual identity issues, LGBTQ+ issues, as well as personality, mood, and adjustment disorders. Prior to working in private practice, I worked in community health and provided therapy to individuals negatively affected by sexual abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, anger management issues, bipolar disorder, self-esteem issues, and eating disorders. I work with adults and use an integrative approach to therapy. I encourage clients to express their feelings and help them develop insight into themselves and into their relationships with others. My belief is that each client is the expert on their own life. I believe developing a unique and collaborative approach to therapy provides the most favorable outcome.

Biography: I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in the states of Colorado and California with over 25 years of experience working with clients ranging in development from young children to the elderly. I have worked with individuals struggling with anxiety and depression, with couples who had reached an impasse in their communication and those experiencing parenting problems. I understand the dynamics of substance abuse and have helped guide individuals towards treatment. I also have extensive experience with crisis intervention and helping families move from being problem-focused to becoming solution-focused. My approach to therapy is strongly rooted in exploring the family of origin and how the family we come from is so instrumental in shaping our beliefs and behaviors, which sometimes do not serve us. I believe that with an understanding of how family dynamics shape one's sense of self, comes empowerment, which then enables an individual to recognize maladaptive thought processes and change the way they think about themselves, their choices and their subsequent behaviors. What I bring to the table is a strong, empathetic nature and the ability to listen intently and patiently. I possess an innate ability to conceptualize what you tell me in a way that brings a deeper understanding. Biography: Hello! I am a licensed counselor in Colorado with over 11 years of experience working with adolescents, families, and individual men and women I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including attachment issues, past trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, sex addiction, and behavioral concerns. I enjoy getting to know people and learning what life has been like through their eyes. I do not view life struggles as defeats or places of shame, I see these difficult circumstances as times where God is showing us our deep need for Him and His deep love for us. My therapy approach is cognitive-behavioral and person-centered. Many people are helped by having the opportunity to think about their family history and life experiences and how these combine to impact the present struggle. Over the years I have learned that people receive the most help in counseling when their therapist gives attention to the whole person by exploring the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual side of their struggles. Life is so complex and our problems likewise become very complex and overwhelming. Oftentimes change can come through making the complex more simple. My strength as a therapist is in my ability to encourage, support, and shower people with mercy as they tackle their therapy goals. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Reaching out for help is a big step towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to help you meet your therapy goals. I look forward to working with you!

Biography: Hello! I'm a Colorado Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in private practice since 1992. My practice is limited to adults. My theoretical orientation is in humanistic psychology, with training in cognitive-behavioral methods and solution-focused therapy. The merger of these methods means that I'm quite effective with people who want to discover their core strengths and core values and use them to achieve positive change in a variety of areas. Depression and anxiety, communication issues, self-esteem, grief and loss, recovery from unhappy or unhealthy relationships, better choice-making, transitions of all types and women's self-emmpowerment are among my areas of experience. My personal philosophy of therapy is that it is a garden in which we grow the roots and blossoms of individual potential those innate and unique gifts, talents and "superpowers" that each of us is born with but have not yet fully cultivated. Once these aspects of self are identified, they can become allies in the healing process. To that end, the watering can in my therapeutic toolshed is journal therapy, which I define as the intentional and purposeful use of life-based writing for healing, growth and change. I have helped to pioneer this field since 1985, when I was a first-year counseling graduate student. Client outcomes demonstrate that insight, clarity and positive outcomes come more quickly and easily when a journal is used as a companion in the therapeutic experience. I love my work and have happily juggled being a therapist, a teacher/trainer and an author for over 30 years. My first book, Journal to the Self, was released in 1990 and was an immediate best-seller. It is now considered a classic in the field. My 13th book, Journal Therapy for Calming Anxiety, was released in June 2020.

Biography: I would be happy to help you move forward in your life. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I have a M.A. in Counseling and also a Master of Divinity degree, but I never superimpose my beliefs or convictions on anyone else, because that is not ethical. My aim is to help individuals and couples move forward in life in a consistent manner with their particular goals and values and convictions. As for experience, I have the least experience working with LGBTQ clients. For licensure I have the LPC, and for certification I have the CADC. As such, I am able to help individuals with issues of depression, severe anxiety, major life changes and losses, substance abuse issues, relationship issues, learning to be assertive and to have boundaries, closure for trauma and abuse, and helping individuals create a strategy for finding an ideal career. I draw on several different treatment approaches, but my foundation is the Cognitive-Behavioral approach, because it is proven that guarding the thoughts, avoiding assumptions, and learning to pause and reflect rather than just reacting is what helps people the most to be at peace with themselves, and to better handle the stressors that life throws at us. I look forward to working with you.

Biography: It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step, which I would consider a HUGE victory, I would be honored to support you and walk that path with you! My name is Charlie Eliza Boutillette. I live in a very remote, rural and beautiful Valley in Southern Colorado which is known for large migratory bird populations, being the headwaters for the Rio Grande and the many 14,000 ft. mountains that surround it. I have been a practicing psychotherapist since 1995 after receiving an MA and subsequent licensure. I have provided services across the lifespan, from pre-school children to geriatrics-aged adults living in a nursing homes and have had the opportunity to focus on individuals, families, couples, and groups. My early practice took root at a local Community Mental Health Center, which gave me experience and training in dealing with a range of issues from stress reduction and change/phase of life issues (moving, marriage, divorce), significant mental health issues such as schizophrenia and other thought disorders, as well as mood disorders such as major depression and anxiety. I have always loved this work and the opportunity to be a resource and ally for my patients as we, together, travel the path of change and growth. As I have developed my practice and honed my interventions, my therapeutic philosophy has naturally evolved. One part of my philosophy that remains constant is the belief that therapy is about safely exploring the potential freedom life has to offer while examining our perceptions, observations, assumptions, thoughts, emotions and underlying motivations in our daily lives. It is my goal to help you incorporate this same philosophy and move in the direction of your highest self and consummate wellness. To do this we will set goals for therapy with measurable objectives and will be in regular communication both about the goals themselves as well as the moment to moment practice and experience in reaching them. Biography: Hello, I am glad you found us here at Better Help. Thank you for taking the first step by reaching out. Let me tell you a bit about myself, and if I seem to be a good fit for you, we can begin as soon as you would like. My name is Josh Burke, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New York. I have been providing psychotherapy for a wide variety of issues and populations for over seven years. I graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2013 with a Master in Social Work with a mental health concentration. For six years, I provided individual therapy to clients in the city of Rochester, NY, through their primary care offices. I have since moved out of the primary care office and are working as an Independent Therapist via telehealth and in-person consultations. I would describe my approach to be goal-oriented and client/person-centered. I use Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) & Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Both modalities are engaging, practical approaches to problem-solving many concerns as they relate to stressors. ACT is an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that stems from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. The goals are to learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with inner emotions and, instead, accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations that should not prevent oneself from moving forward in their lives. This helps people begin to accept their issues and hardships and commit to making necessary changes in their behavior, regardless of what is going on in their lives, and how they feel about it. Difficult and unpleasant times are part of the human experience. I understand seeking help can be a vulnerable step to take. Exploring the healing process or enriching one's personal growth, first and foremost, requires establishing a trusting and emotionally supportive relationship. Change is not easy, but it is possible.

I have been privileged to work with a wonderfully diverse population of clients that has never stopped to amaze me and enriched my knowledge and understanding as a therapist and Life Coach. I continue to strive to increase my knowledge and training with a holistic approach. I believe in focusing on healing and increasing wellness rather than focusing on a diagnosis. Biography: I am licensed in Colorado and Louisiana with 4 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with LGBTQIA2 related issues, family conflicts, ADHD issues, & career difficulties. Let me explain a little more about these areas of focus. I have training within systems and family conflicts due to my license of being an LMFT, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Another area in which I am passionate about is helping individuals who have been clinically diagnosed with ADHD move through a world in a more ADHD friendly manner. Let's work with your brain rather than against it. Lastly, in regards to career matters the way in which I often find myself helping clients is related to matters such as boundary setting and work life balance. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. As we spend more time together on your mental health journey you will notice that I value laughter and often this is found in my sessions. Have you heard of the statement you can give someone a fish and feed them for a day or you can teach them to fish and feed them for a lifetime? That viewpoint is a visual example of how in therapy the work is helping you, the person reading my bio, learn how to interact in a healthier and more sustainable way rather than providing you direct answers. With that being said, it takes courage and immense amount of bravery to seek out a more fulfilling and authentic life by taking the first steps towards a change. I am here to support, challenge, and empower you in that journey.
