Care Philosophy: Talkspace partners with care providers who find satisfaction in providing therapy in a way that prioritizes the client's convenience and preferences. Because all therapy takes place virtually, through messaging, live virtual sessions, or both, providers can communicate more frequently and casually in comparison to traditional face-to-face therapy. Talkspace treatment methods are supported by scientific research and are committed to non-judgmental care that is inclusive and respectful of cultural and other identities. Talkspace patients are matched with the best provider for them based on their needs and availability during the registration process. Once matched with a provider, patients may change at any time, and may contact support to request a specific provider. *The above is attributed to Talkspace and not the provider.*

Biography: Choosing a therapist hinges on so many factors! Who you are, what you are looking for in therapy. Then there are the therapists available to you, You look at their education, training, experience, therapeutic approaches, etc. Deciding to seek therapy takes courage and you want a good fit. That fit comes from working together, developing trust and a willingness to be open to hearing what each other says. I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1990. I have worked in the mental health field since 1975, in psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, and then interning in private practice for three years prior to becoming licensed. I was extremely lucky to have worked at a psychiatric hospital early on that provided staff education with some of the most famous people in the field of psychotherapy, so I feel my foundation is outstanding. Life can be hard, overwhelming, frustrating, and exciting. My role as a therapist is to help you help yourself, to identify areas in your life where you might be stuck, understand why you do or feel or act as you do, understand the influences that affect you today. I believe in setting goals in therapy that can be evaluated along the way and changed when needed. Therapy can be short term, very solution oriented. Or can take longer. I draw from the various therapeutic approaches that I have studied and put into practice over the years. And apply what I know to each client individually. Clients have described me as compassionate, that I seek to understand what they need, that I am able to hear them, and that I am respectful. I love the connection between myself and my clients that allows me to stay neutral yet utilizes my ability to be empathetic. I will help you to develop the tools needed to make the changes you identify and to incorporate insights that happen along the way. I have worked with individuals, families, and couples. My speciality has been working with people going through Infertility and I have had specialized training in this unique area as well as being a therapist with a national support organization. All of this experience and training define who I am as a therapist/counselor today. I have a good understanding of how our family of origin affects how we function today and utilize a family systems and a more eclectic approach. But more than what approaches I draw from, that connection I mentioned above is what helps my clients achieve their goals. I wish you all the best in your journey and if I am the therapist you contact, I look forward to our work together.

Care Philosophy: There are a number of different models of therapy out there, and any model that works for anyone is a great model. In the thousands of groups Joseph conducted with severely mentally ill clients in locked hospital settings, it was usually most effective to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques because they were well-matched to the fast pace and turnover of that environment and produced practical results in a population characterized by impaired cognition, preoccupation with psychotic or mood symptomatology, and frequent inability or unwillingness to share personal history. However, in personal and family therapy with those functioning at a higher level, Joseph relies on an eclectic synthesis of Existential, Narrative, and Feminist models. These reflect his commitment to helping clients determine and strive for what is truly meaningful to them, rewrite their own stories so that their lives are rich with possibility.

Care Philosophy: Talkspace partners with care providers who find satisfaction in providing therapy in a way that prioritizes the clients convenience and preferences.

Biography: Hello. I appreciate you taking the time to get to know more about me. I have been on planet earth for a long time. I so appreciate having the opportunity to see the consciousness of mankind expand in many ways. And in many ways, it has stayed the same. I would like to think that my life experience has allowed me to experience a range of emotions, trials and tribulations that contributes to my ability to listen and empathize with your situation. The primary trait I bring to the table is that of the wounded healer. I grew up in an abusive atmosphere, and spent most of my life trying to "figure it out". I have experienced many different types of therapy, many of them cathartic and body oriented. I have always found a sense of home in my body. We now know that the heart and the gut both have more neurotransmitters than the brain. I also try to convey the power of Mother Earth to support you on your journey. You are never really alone. The mind is not always the best place to look for solutions, especially for body issues and trauma. Research has proven this to be the case. I have lived in many places, travelled the world, and look forward to spending my elder years sharing what i have learned. I love the West Coast. I grew up in New York City. while there I was a teacher, a dog trainer, a professional dancer, and I performed off off Broadway doing Primal Theatre. I performed for many years doing Playback Theater, a wonderful form where we played back audience member's stories for them. I have been an entrepreneur and business owner for decades, providing tools and information to help people live a happy, healthy, long life. I have coached and worked with many business owners and family businesses. I am confident that I can provide you with a compassionate ear, be a witness to your areas of concern, and help move you towards your goals and aspirations.
