Biography: Samik Banerjee, MD, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery, is part of Einstein Healthcare Network's Department of Orthopedics and Total Joints Surgery. Dr. Cooper joined us from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he had been a senior staff neurosurgeon from 2006 to 2015. During that time he was the Center's director of neurosurgical oncology and the neurosurgery consultant to the Army Surgeon General from 2012 to 2015. Dr. Cooper is board-certified in neurological surgery and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army in 2015. He earned his medical degree from the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He completed his internship and neurosurgery residency training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and received additional, specialized training in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Neurological Surgery.
