Biography: Barton Smith, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon with TriCities Surgical Associates in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Virginia for both his undergraduate and medical degrees in 1978 and 1982, respectively. He completed his internship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, in 1983, and his residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., in 1988, upon which time he returned to Central Virginia. Dr. Smith has been caring for patients in the TriCities community and working in partnership with Dr. Rayudu Jujjavarapu since 1988. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Biography: Dr. Glanville was born in Puerto Rico and currently resides in Midlothian, Virginia with her husband, son, and dog. Dr. Glanville received her Bachelor's degree and a minor in Psychology from Penn State University in 2003. Joanne received monetary grants during her time at Penn State for her GPA. Dr. Glanville decided to go back home and complete her doctorate in medicine from Ponce School of Medicine in 2008. She graduated medical school with clinical honors. Joanne then moved to New Jersey to complete her general surgery internship and residency from 2008-2014. Dr. Glanville then proceeded to complete an Endocrine Surgery fellowship at The National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD from 2014-2015. Dr. Glanville wanted to further her robotics training in general surgery, and so moved back to Hackensack, New Jersey to become the first robotic fellow in the United States at Hackensack University Medical Center from 2015-2016. Dr. Glanville is board certified by the American Board of General Surgery. Her practice specializes in endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, and some pancreas) and robotic general surgery. She has special interest in foregut, colon, hernias, and gallbladder surgery.

Biography: Aman Banerjee, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon with Surgical Associates of Richmond. Dr. Aman Banerjee was born in India, and he grew up in Stamford, Connecticut. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Richmond in 2005 and his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 2009. He resides in Chesterfield County with his wife and two daughters. Dr. Banerjee is board certified in general surgery. He completed his surgical residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2016. There he received the Dudley P. Allen and Richard B. Fratianne scholarships for research. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He performs all aspects of general surgery. He has special interests in advanced wound care, laparoscopic robot-assisted minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, hernia surgery, colon, and rectal surgery. Dr. Banerjee is now accepting patients at our Midlothian office near Johnston-Willis Hospital. He will be performing surgeries at both Johnston-Willis and Chippenham Hospitals.
