Dr. Patel also spent 17 years as a leader in the pediatric surgery program at Driscoll Children's Hospital. He served as Chief of Surgery, Surgical Director (PICU), and Trauma Medical Director. Dr. Patel is board-certified, holding his Board Certification from the American Board of Surgery in both Pediatric and General Surgery. I strive for a quick recovery making my patients as comfortable as possible. No one wants to have surgery, but if it becomes necessary then care should be given as much empathy, safety and comfort as possible.

Whenever medically possible, Dr. Kocay performs minimally invasive surgery, or laparoscopic surgery, which requires smaller incisions than traditional surgery.Laparoscopy surgery is safer to perform and generally reduces the length of hospital stays and recovery times. Dr. Kocay is also experienced with traditional (open) surgery.Above all, treatment is chosen to meet a patient's individual needs.
