Care Philosophy: Lisa Markley, MS, RDN, LD, is an integrative dietitian and seasoned culinary nutrition expert with nearly two decades of experience working towards improving the health of individuals and the community. Lisa received her Master of Science in nutrition from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, and her Bachelor of Science in health education from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. She returned to Kansas City to complete her certificate in dietetics from the University of Kansas Medical Center, becoming a registered dietitian nutritionist in 2005. As a lifelong learner, Lisa has continued her professional development with courses from the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy, the Institute for Functional Medicine and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. During her time as a dietitian and health educator, Lisa has gained diverse experiences in the fields of culinary education and recipe writing, clinical counseling, higher education and community wellness. Lisa is also an advocate for healthy local food systems and sustainable agriculture, which she has promoted through volunteer work with the Greater Kansas City Food Policy Coalition and Cultivate Kansas City. Lisa offers nutrition consultations and classes, both in-person and virtually, and she tailors each nutrition plan to the individual client. In her consults and classes, she passionately educates and empowers clients and class participants to harness the healing power of food and healthful lifestyle changes. Lisa joined the AdventHealth Whole Health Institute in 2020 as the director of culinary medicine.
