Care Philosophy: Dr Chung's laboratory was among the first to recognize the importance of human papillomavirus (HPV) in the etiology of certain HNC as seen in one of the four subtypes in our molecular characterization study. Specifically the research showed that the most significantly deregulated genes in the HPV-positive tumors are cell cycle regulators. These data provided evidence that HPV-positive tumors may be more sensitive to chemotherapy and molecular inhibitors that specifically target cell cycle. In addition, her research findings contributed to establish the prognostic implication of the HPV status. Patients with HPV-positive HNC have a better prognosis compared to patients with HPV-negative HNC.

Care Philosophy: Dr Chatwal earned her MD at Florida State University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Emory University School of Medicine, followed by a Hematology Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center and the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr Chatwal's clinical focus is the medical oncology management of patients with genitourinary malignancies, particularly prostate cancer. Her research focus is on prostate cancer clinical trials and outcomes. Dr Chatwal also has a practical and research interest in the important issue of provider burnout.

Biography: Dr. Puri received her MD degree from Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana, India. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Farmington, followed by a Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa. Dr. Puri joins us from the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, where she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Oncology. During her time at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, she served as the Physician Leader for the Thoracic Clinical Trial Research Group; in that role, she managed the ongoing and future clinical trial portfolio. We are excited for her to partner with Dr. Andreas Saltos in the role of our Clinical Research Medical Director to drive the clinical research vision and manage our trial portfolio. Dr. Puri's clinical interests involve treating patients with thoracic malignancies including non-small cell and small cell lung cancer. Her research interests include development of clinical trials for patients with thoracic malignancies with emphasis on immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other novel therapeutics.

Care Philosophy: Dr Peguero received his MD from Ponce School of Medicine, Puerto Rico. He completed a neurology residency at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. After completing his residency, Dr Peguero completed a fellowship in epilepsy and EEG at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. After his fellowship, Dr Peguero was employed at The Watson Clinic, Department of Neurology, Lakeland, Florida, where he also served as Chief of Service of Neurology at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Dr Peguero was an Assistant Professor at Ponce School of Medicine, and most recently, he has worked in private practice. Dr Peguero's clinical interest is in General Neurology, Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology.

Care Philosophy: Dr Arnold Etame is a Neurological Surgeon and Scientist specializing in Neuro-Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center, and Associate Professor of Oncology at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. Dr Etame has extensive expertise in the treatment of malignant gliomas notably glioblastoma (GBM) and he is part of a very small group of neurosurgeons with National Institute of Health (NIH) funding to develop impactful therapies for glioblastoma. He performs a substantial number of surgeries in eloquent and non-eloquent regions of the brain with image-guided stereotactic techniques entailing functional MRI and DTI tractography neuro-navigation.

Care Philosophy: Dr Montejo joined the Moffitt Radiation Oncology Faculty in 2013 and currently serves as the departmental section head for the gynecologic radiation oncology service and radiation oncology service at Moffitt International Plaza satellite. His clinical interests include management of lymphoma, female gynecologic and breast malignancies including application of brachytherapy and modern highly conformal image-guided external beam radiotherapy. His research interests include brachytherapy and adaptation of highly conformal image-guided external body radiosurgery techniques to gynecologic and breast malignancy applications.

Care Philosophy: Dr Freeman obtained her MD from the National University of Ireland, specialized in hematology at St Bartholomew's in London, and obtained a master's degree in Clinical Drug Development from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). She also earned her PhD in immuno-oncology and therapeutics from the Barts Cancer Institute of QMUL under Professor John Gribben. She completed a fellowship in lymphoproliferative disorders and joins us from the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Vancouver, Canada, where she served as Assistant Professor and the Myeloma Lead.Dr Freeman's clinical interests are focused on the treatment of patients with plasma cell neoplasms using autologous transplant and cellular immunotherapy.

Care Philosophy: Dr Julian Sanchez is a colorectal surgeon in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He is Associate Professor of Surgery and Associate Professor of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He is board certified in both general surgery and in colorectal surgery. Dr Sanchez's clinical interests include colon and rectal cancer, anal cancer, high resolution anoscopy, genetic cancer syndromes, and minimally invasive surgery. His research centers on HPV infection and associated anal cancer. He is especially interested in the progression of anal dysplasia in immunosuppression and in screening programs for high risk patients.

Care Philosophy: Dr Kubal is an associate member in the Moffitt Cancer Center Malignant Hematology Department. He completed his hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of South Florida at Moffitt Cancer Center, completing an MBA concurrently at the University of South Florida. Dr Kubal's research and clinical interests are in myeloid malignancies with a particular focus in acute leukemias. In addition to his clinical efforts, Dr Kubal serves as the medical director of process excellence and is focused on continuous improvement of the patient experience.Dr Kubal serves as Senior Medical Director of Moffitt at Wesley Chapel, and practices full time at the Moffitt Wesley Chapel campus.

Care Philosophy: Dr Lilit Karapetyan is an Assistant Member in the Department of Cutaneous Oncology, Immuno-oncology program as well as an assistant professor in the Department of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr Karapetyan received her MD degree from Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia, and her Master of Science degree in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis at the University of Michigan. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Michigan State University and a Hematology/ Oncology Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, Division of Hematology/Oncology, Hillman Cancer Center.

Care Philosophy: Dr Naghavi's clinical focus is primarily in soft tissue sarcoma with a unique treatment approach including both conventional external beam radiation and brachytherapy techniques. With a background in genetics and mathematics, he is interested in evaluating the utility of genomics and radiomics in the prediction and potential treatment of cancer. These tools will be primarily focused towards the personalization of soft tissue sarcoma treatment, in an effort to optimize patient care.

Care Philosophy: Dr John Kiluk is a surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer in The Center for Women's Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He was voted by his patients and peers asMoffitt's Physician of the Year in 2011. From an early age, Dr Kiluk accompanied his physician father on hospital rounds and learned the rewards of helping patients during a difficult time in their lives. Now, as a Moffitt breast surgeon, he values the opportunity to guide and support patients through every step of the process, from initial diagnosis through recovery. Dr Kiluk points out that Moffitt's breast program is unique in that all of the specialists on the team are exclusively focused on treating patients with breast cancer.

Care Philosophy: Dr Fontaine received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and completed his general surgery residency at Boston University. In 2006, he graduated as chief resident in thoracic surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital - Harvard Medical School. Dr Fontaine began his thoracic surgery practice at University of Montreal but was then recruited to become part of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Brown Medical School in Providence, RI. He was in charge of developing a thoracic surgery program at one of Brown University's teaching hospitals. In 2011, Dr Fontaine joined Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL - the 3rd largest cancer center in the United States.

Care Philosophy: Dr Komrokji is the Vice chair of the Malignant Hematology Department and the head of the Leukemia and MDS Section at Moffitt Cancer Center. He is a senior Member of the Malignant Hematology and Experimental Therapeutics Program at the center, and a Professor in Medicine & Oncologic Sciences at the College of Medicine at the University of South Florida, in Tampa, Florida. After earning a medical degree in 1996 from the Jordan University School of Medicine, Dr Komrokji completed an internship and residency at Case Western University, St. Vincent Program. He then completed a fellowship at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester, in Hematology/Oncology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.

Care Philosophy: Dr Stephen Rosenberg is an Assistant Member in the Section of Thoracic Oncology of the Moffitt Cancer Center Department of Radiation Oncology. He grew up in Medford, New Jersey and graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He earned a Master's of Science in Clinical and Translational Research at Rutgers University in combination with his Medical Degree. During medical school, he was named a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellow. He went on to complete his medical internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he was named the Suzanne Munson Intern of the Year. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Wisconsin where he also served as Chief Resident.

Care Philosophy: Dr Johnstone received his MD degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD. He completed a Transitional Internship at National Naval Medical Center and a Radiation Oncology Residency at the National Cancer Institute. Dr Johnstone served in the United States Navy, retiring in 2003. He then served as Professor of Radiation Oncology and Hematology/Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine from 2003-2007. He was Director of the Survivorship Program at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute during this period. Dr Johnstone was appointed as Chair and William A Mitchell Professor of Radiation Oncology at Indiana University School of Medicine in 2007.

Care Philosophy: Dr Roberto Diaz graduated summa cum laude from Manhattanville College with a degree in chemistry. He earned his MS, PhD, and MD degrees from New York University School of Medicine where he completed the medical scientist training program with an emphasis on molecular oncology. After graduating, he spent his first year of residency in Internal Medicine at Yale University's Griffin Hospital. At Griffin, he was voted best first-year resident by the nursing staff. He then completed his training in Radiation Oncology at Vanderbilt University where he served as chief resident in his final year. Dr Diaz is board certified in Radiation Oncology and is the Breast Section Chief in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center.
