Care Philosophy: Dr Nicholas Figura is an Assistant Member in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr Figura will be located at the Moffitt partnership site at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, working with Dr Ronica Nanda and Dr Roberto Diaz. Dr Figura received his MD from the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. He recently completed a Radiation Oncology Residency at Moffitt Cancer Center/University of South Florida, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr Figura's clinical interests include the use of definitive radiotherapy in the treatment of head and neck, thoracic, gastrointestinal, and hematologic malignancies as well as the use of palliative radiotherapy for oligometastatic disease.

Care Philosophy: Her philosophy in caring for patients is to offer the least invasive, individualized yet comprehensive treatment options she would recommend for members of her own family. Her patients remain extremely important to her and she enjoys being able to help them return to happy, fulfilling lives. In her spare time, Dr Monteiro enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and exercise.

Care Philosophy: Dr Amod Sarnaik is a surgical oncologist in the Department of Cutaneous Oncology,the Immunology Program and the Melanoma Center of Excellence at Moffitt Cancer Center. In addition, Dr Sarnaik holds an appointmentof associate professor of oncology and surgery at the University of South Florida. Dr Sarnaik's primary research interest involves investigation of novel immunotherapeutic treatments for melanoma. This includes tumor-based vaccines, immune-activating antibodies, targeted inhibition of oncogenic proteins and autologous T-cell therapy. His clinical interests focus on the surgical treatment of melanoma and other cutaneous-based skin cancers, sentinel lymph node biopsy techniques, and minimizing surgically-related morbidities.

Care Philosophy: Dr Amalia Stefanou is as an Assistant Member in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr Stefanou previously worked at Henry Ford Medical Group/Henry Ford Hospital and Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she achieved the rank of Assistant Professor. Dr Stefanou received her MD degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan, and she completed a Residency in General Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr Stefanou then completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency Training Program at Cook County Hospital/University of Illinois, Chicago.

Care Philosophy: Dr Chung's laboratory was among the first to recognize the importance of human papillomavirus (HPV) in the etiology of certain HNC as seen in one of the four subtypes in our molecular characterization study. Specifically the research showed that the most significantly deregulated genes in the HPV-positive tumors are cell cycle regulators. These data provided evidence that HPV-positive tumors may be more sensitive to chemotherapy and molecular inhibitors that specifically target cell cycle. In addition, her research findings contributed to establish the prognostic implication of the HPV status. Patients with HPV-positive HNC have a better prognosis compared to patients with HPV-negative HNC.

Biography: Douglas E. Politz, MD, is one of the most experienced parathyroid surgeons in the world, having performed over 8,000 parathyroidectomies. He has dedicated his career to parathyroid disease, combining enormous experience with superior knowledge and skill to compliment his warm, engaging manner. Having seen the simplest and the most challenging parathyroid disease scenarios, Dr. Politz welcomes patients who have been diagnosed for the first time and those with prior attempts at surgical cure. Patients whose parathyroid disease is associated with thyroid cancer or kidney disease also benefit from his decades of experience. Dr. Politz has helped refine advanced techniques of minimally invasive parathyroidectomy used to quickly identify the four parathyroid glands in surgery. He has examined over 25,000 parathyroid glands and has helped train the most experienced handful of parathyroid surgeons worldwide who have followed him in this field. Dr. Politz has operated on patients from every U.S. state and multiple continents.

Care Philosophy: Dr Chatwal earned her MD at Florida State University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Emory University School of Medicine, followed by a Hematology Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center and the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr Chatwal's clinical focus is the medical oncology management of patients with genitourinary malignancies, particularly prostate cancer. Her research focus is on prostate cancer clinical trials and outcomes. Dr Chatwal also has a practical and research interest in the important issue of provider burnout.

Biography: Dr. Puri received her MD degree from Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana, India. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Farmington, followed by a Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa. Dr. Puri joins us from the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, where she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Oncology. During her time at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, she served as the Physician Leader for the Thoracic Clinical Trial Research Group; in that role, she managed the ongoing and future clinical trial portfolio. We are excited for her to partner with Dr. Andreas Saltos in the role of our Clinical Research Medical Director to drive the clinical research vision and manage our trial portfolio. Dr. Puri's clinical interests involve treating patients with thoracic malignancies including non-small cell and small cell lung cancer. Her research interests include development of clinical trials for patients with thoracic malignancies with emphasis on immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other novel therapeutics.

Care Philosophy: Dr Peguero received his MD from Ponce School of Medicine, Puerto Rico. He completed a neurology residency at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. After completing his residency, Dr Peguero completed a fellowship in epilepsy and EEG at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. After his fellowship, Dr Peguero was employed at The Watson Clinic, Department of Neurology, Lakeland, Florida, where he also served as Chief of Service of Neurology at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Dr Peguero was an Assistant Professor at Ponce School of Medicine, and most recently, he has worked in private practice. Dr Peguero's clinical interest is in General Neurology, Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology.

Care Philosophy: Dr Arnold Etame is a Neurological Surgeon and Scientist specializing in Neuro-Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center, and Associate Professor of Oncology at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. Dr Etame has extensive expertise in the treatment of malignant gliomas notably glioblastoma (GBM) and he is part of a very small group of neurosurgeons with National Institute of Health (NIH) funding to develop impactful therapies for glioblastoma. He performs a substantial number of surgeries in eloquent and non-eloquent regions of the brain with image-guided stereotactic techniques entailing functional MRI and DTI tractography neuro-navigation.

Care Philosophy: Dr Montejo joined the Moffitt Radiation Oncology Faculty in 2013 and currently serves as the departmental section head for the gynecologic radiation oncology service and radiation oncology service at Moffitt International Plaza satellite. His clinical interests include management of lymphoma, female gynecologic and breast malignancies including application of brachytherapy and modern highly conformal image-guided external beam radiotherapy. His research interests include brachytherapy and adaptation of highly conformal image-guided external body radiosurgery techniques to gynecologic and breast malignancy applications.

Biography: Dr. Thomas Rutherford, MD is an Obstetrics /amp Gynecology Specialist who practices in Tampa, FL. He is 71 years old. Dr. Thomas Rutherford, MD is affiliated with Tampa General Hospital and Tampa General Hospital.

Care Philosophy: Dr Freeman obtained her MD from the National University of Ireland, specialized in hematology at St Bartholomew's in London, and obtained a master's degree in Clinical Drug Development from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). Care Philosophy: Dr John Kiluk is a surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer in The Center for Women's Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He was voted by his patients and peers asMoffitt's Physician of the Year in 2011. From an early age, Dr Kiluk accompanied his physician father on hospital rounds and learned the rewards of helping patients during a difficult time in their lives. Now, as a Moffitt breast surgeon, he values the opportunity to guide and support patients through every step of the process, from initial diagnosis through recovery. Dr Kiluk points out that Moffitt's breast program is unique in that all of the specialists on the team are exclusively focused on treating patients with breast cancer.

Care Philosophy: Dr Julian Sanchez is a colorectal surgeon in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He is Associate Professor of Surgery and Associate Professor of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He is board certified in both general surgery and in colorectal surgery. Dr Sanchez's clinical interests include colon and rectal cancer, anal cancer, high resolution anoscopy, genetic cancer syndromes, and minimally invasive surgery. His research centers on HPV infection and associated anal cancer. He is especially interested in the progression of anal dysplasia in immunosuppression and in screening programs for high risk patients.

Care Philosophy: Dr Kubal is an associate member in the Moffitt Cancer Center Malignant Hematology Department. He completed his hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of South Florida at Moffitt Cancer Center, completing an MBA concurrently at the University of South Florida. Dr Kubal's research and clinical interests are in myeloid malignancies with a particular focus in acute leukemias. In addition to his clinical efforts, Dr Kubal serves as the medical director of process excellence and is focused on continuous improvement of the patient experience.Dr Kubal serves as Senior Medical Director of Moffitt at Wesley Chapel, and practices full time at the Moffitt Wesley Chapel campus.
