He earned his bachelor of science at Emory University and earned his medical degree at the University of South Florida. He completed an internship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in San Juan, and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Boston University Medical Center, where he was also chief resident. In addition, he completed a fellowship in pain medicine at the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center in Kentucky. He is Board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and holds a subspecialty certification in pain medicine.
