Care Philosophy: I enjoy caring for patients who have a wide variety of bone, joint and muscle problems and have a special interest in patients who have hip and knee arthritis. My goal is to improve my patients' quality of life by relieving pain and returning them to the highest level of function possible, with a focus on patient-centered care. I focus on primary total hip and knee replacements, partial knee replacements, and complex revision hip and knee replacements. I have completed additional subspecialty training in joint replacement surgery and had the opportunity to train at the #1 ranked hospital for orthopedics in the country. Not only do I strive to be an excellent technical surgeon, but I also want to provide my patients with a comfortable environment where they feel that they are truly listened to and are treated with care, compassion and respect. I am happy to have the opportunity to return to practice in the Twin Cities, where I grew up, and to be closer to my family. Outside of orthopedic surgery, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, photography and Pilates!

Care Philosophy: Dr. Gustafson™s favorite part about being an internal medicine physician is forming long-term relationships with patients. She loves the moment when a person finally reaches their goal weight or has their depression/anxiety under good control. Until that point, she enjoys working with people on small steps that add up to big health improvements over time. Internal medicine is about chronic and complex disease management " hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, depression/anxiety, migraines, arthritis, kidney disease, asthma/COPD, liver disease and dementia are Dr. Gustafson™s bread and butter. She treats the whole person so that the diuretic used for heart failure does not cause kidney failure. Patients can be taking 12+ medications and Dr. Gustafson™s job is to make sure those medications are necessary, well-tolerated, working well and are appropriate given other medications/allergies. As a self-professed nerd, she enjoys the challenge of medicine. Dr. Gustafson™s patients can expect comprehensive care from a thoughtful and caring doctor.
