Biography: Christopher Irobunda, MD, is an Associate Professor at CUMC and an interventionalist. He is also Vice Chair of the Faculty Development focusing on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion within the Department of Medicine. He trained as a general and interventional cardiologist. Dr. Irobunda has been a full-time faculty since 2003. He obtained his MD/PhD in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. His PhD was in Molecular Pharmacology, specifically on the cyclic Adenosine MonoPhosphate/beta-adrenergic signal transduction system. He subsequently completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at New York University Medical Center, followed by his General and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship here at Columbia University Medical Center. After completing his medical training and research study, he shifted his concentration to patient care and the education of aspiring young physicians. Dr. Irobunda is ardently dedicated to uncompromised patient care and teaching. His primary focus is individualized patient care and patient advocacy. Given his training as a medical scientist, it is hardly surprising that he is a keen diagnostician. He has a penchant for complex cardiac issues and other medical problems that can sometimes mask or aggravate the cardiac disease. His aptitude for unraveling these medical conundrums has led to medical diagnoses for patients who have come to him for second and even third opinions. However, above all else, his true genius is his ability to relate to his patients with intelligence, curiosity, patience, compassion, and humor. His ability to waylay even the most apprehensive of patients with his aura of reassurance and understanding has garnered him a continually growing medical practice. Dr. Irobunda has been a Supervisor and Attending Faculty for the Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine for First Year Medical Students at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons since 2011, a program that endeavors to instill exceptional patient-doctor communication and trust. Biography: Dr. Srirama Kalapatapu is a clinical cardiologists at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center and the Chief of Cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital. He is a Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Kalapatapu received his Doctor of Medicine from Siddhartha Medical College in India. He completed his internship at St. Vincent's Hospital, residency at Stamford Hospital and fellowship at Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Kalapatapu is board certified in cardiovascular medicine and nuclear medicine. He specializes in adult cardiology and cardiac imaging.

Biography: Dr. Gabriel Sayer is the Associate Director of Advanced Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory support at NewYork-Presbyterian. In this role, Dr. Sayer provides leadership and oversight for the comprehensive heart failure services provided across NewYork-Presbyterian, including the campuses in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Westchester. Dr. Sayer attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by Internal Medicine residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed Cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center and his Advanced Heart Failure fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to joining NewYork-Presbyterian in 2019, Dr. Sayer worked at the University of Chicago for six years, where he was the Associate Director of the Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Cardiac Transplantation programs. Biography: Koji Takeda, MD, PhD is a cardiac surgeon and Surgical Director for Adult Heart Transplant at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Takeda has a focus on heart failure, heart transplant surgery and mechanical circulatory support through ventricular assist devices (VADs). In addition to his clinical work, he is an active researcher in all of these areas, as well as in cardiac regeneration therapy. Dr. Takeda completed his medical training, post-graduate training, residency and fellowship in Osaka, Japan, after which he completed an advanced cardiovascular surgery fellowship at Northwestern University, Chicago. He is the recipient of multiple honors and awards including the American College of Chest Physicians Award, Japan Branch, 2009; and chief resident award and best resident award, 2005, at the National Cardiovascular Center, Osaka, Japan.

Biography: Joseph Tenenbaum, MD is the Edgar M. Leifer Professor of Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. Biography: Dr. Elaine Wan is the Esther Aboodi Associate Professor of Medicine in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Columbia University Medical Center, College of Physicians and Surgeons and attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She is trained in Internal Medicine, Clinical Cardiology and is an invasive cardiac electrophysiologist. She is the Director of Electrophysiology Research and oversees all electrophysiology clinical trials. She performs implantation of cardiac devices including pacemaker and defibrillators, as well as ablation of arrhythmias. Dr. Wan is a physician-scientist and focuses on development of novel treatments for heart failure, vascular dysfunction and arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation. Biography: Mathew S. Maurer, MD - Dr. Maurer is a general internist and geriatric cardiologist with advanced training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation. Biography: Michael B. Collins, MD is an Interventional Cardiologist at Columbia Interventional Cardiovascular Care, the Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Catheterization Lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He graduated from the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel, and completed his residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowship at the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa, Israel. Dr. Weisz finished his interventional cardiology training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Weisz focuses on current and innovative technologies. His expertise includes novel robotic-enhanced coronary interventions, with a special emphasis on navigation and positioning technologies.
