Biography: Variety is what led me to become a colorectal surgeon. \n It's a specialty that allows me to perform a number of procedures and interventions and to be part of the full spectrum of care - from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up. I love performing outpatient anorectal procedures that can drastically improve a patient's quality of life, as well as abdominal and rectal surgery for cancer, diverticulitis or inflammatory bowel disease, robotic surgery, hernia repairs and endoscopy. \n My approach to healthcare starts with being a careful listener. I spend the time necessary to hear a patient's concerns, evaluate their symptoms and review treatment options with them. I pride myself on staying up to date on the latest research and in taking a team approach to treatment by discussing a patient's care with their primary as well as with consulting physicians and providers. \n I balance the science of reaching a diagnosis with the art of providing more than one treatment option. Having an extensive discussion of risks, benefits and alternative therapies allows the patient autonomy. \n I'm a member of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. In 2024, I was honored to be listed among Charlotte Magazine's "Charlotte's Top Doctors." \n My wife and I have lived in Charlotte since 2022. I enjoy traveling, hiking, water sports, playing the piano and exercising. We love taking our dog, Nora, on North Carolina's many public parks and trails.

Biography: From an early age, I was drawn to biology and the sciences and dreamed of becoming a marine biologist. By exploring the secrets of the oceans, I hoped to find cures for the diseases of nature. But I soon realized that curing diseases for humanity was at the heart of my desires. \n Once in medical school, my strength and interest in surgery were impossible to deny. While I found all components of general surgery and critical care fascinating, I believe that the most effective way to cure many diseases is to help people achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Metabolic/bariatric surgery paired with lifestyle changes can make that possible. \nI approach healthcare with the goal of using activity and food as sources of wellness. Following surgery, as I witness my patients' health improve and their reliance on medications decrease, it is a truly happy and gratifying moment for my patients and for me. \n Bariatrics allows me to have ongoing relationships with my patients, which is an important aspect of my job. Only by connecting with my patients at an individual level and learning about the obstacles each person faces can we design a personalized plan for success. \nOutside of work I love hiking, gardening and spending time with my husband and three children.
