Biography: When I was young, I was fortunate to have a neighbor, a surgeon, who took on the role of mentoring me. I learned about his work and became interested in the medical field. In college, I worked in the operating room of my local hospital where I got to observe various procedures and became particularly interested in urology. Kidney stones were especially fascinating to me. This is what led me to urology as a specialty. \n Listening to my patients is one of the most important things I do. My goal is to work with them to understand their concerns, consider all treatment options and then exercise shared decision-making so together we can plan the best course of action. Whatever we choose, I will be as hands-on and involved in every part of their care as necessary. \n I am proud of my more than three decades of service at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, and of my role on the board of the Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation. Being active in and available to serve my community has always been one of my highest priorities. \n My wife and I have three daughters, and we are excited to be transitioning into our roles as grandparents. When I am not working or spending time with my family, you can find me outside; I love all outdoor activities.

Biography: The ability to help another person through a wonderful time, like the birth of a child, or a difficult time, like a diagnosis of cancer, makes my job worth doing every day. \n I love making true connections and lasting relationships with my patients and finding better ways to approach and solve problems. Obstetrics and gynecology offer a way to do both. Getting to know you as a whole person makes it easier for me to deliver healthcare that fits the life you lead. \n Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and animals. I am married to a wonderful man and have two amazing twin boys. We live on 14 acres where we keep two horses and three dogs. I love being surrounded by the unconditional love of my animals. I am also a big fan of live theater and visit New York City at least once a year to go to Broadway. Finally, I am an avid reader, and I always like to hear about what my patients are reading.

Biography: Recently a patient came in for her annual physical exam who had lost 120 pounds since her previous annual physical a year earlier. She credited me with motivating her and giving her the tools to start her weight loss journey. Another patient came in for her post-op appointment after having a hysterectomy for a large fibroid uterus. She no longer had heavy bleeding or pelvic pressure and was feeling more energetic and comfortable with exercise. \n I went into medicine to help girls and women with their medical problems and that's the kind of feedback that motivates me to keep learning and be the best doctor I can be for my patients. \n Whether working with patients or other health care professionals, I consider myself an educator and adviser. Though I'll take a conservative approach to treating you, I will encourage you to use all therapeutic options if I think they will help you achieve the best long-term outcome. Those therapies can include medication, supplements, exercise, surgery, physical therapy, counseling, etc. \n I learned the value of this collegial approach twice during my medical training. The first time was as a student at UNC School of Medicine, when I received the Christopher C. Fordham Award for helping others to perform at their best. During my residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine a few years later, I was named OB-GYN Resident Teacher of the Year. \n I am a proud wife and mother of two. When not working, I love to be outside doing just about anything, and love reading, cooking, listening to live music, and practicing the drums.
