Biography: Dr. Nupoor Narula earned her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she graduated with Distinction in Research. She completed a 3-year Internal Medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She pursued a Vascular Medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, is board-certified in Vascular Medicine, and is skilled in whole body vascular imaging, earning her Registered Physician in Vascular Imaging credential after extensive training in vascular ultrasound. She completed her Cardiovascular Diseases fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical College. During her Fellowship, she trained under Dr. Mary J. Roman and Dr. Richard B. Devereux, with a special emphasis on the clinical and imaging evaluation of individuals with aortic diseases. During her Fellowship, she also served as the President of the American Heart Association Cardiovascular Fellows Society of Greater New York. She received grant funding for her research during her Fellowship by the Michael Wolk Heart Foundation and is currently a Fund for the Future Grant Kellen Scholar at Weill Cornell Medicine.In addition to her outpatient clinical practice, she will serve as an attending on the inpatient Cardiology unit and interpret both echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound imaging. Biography: Erden Goljo, MD is a practicing cardiac electrophysiologist at Weill Cornell Medical Center and anAssistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell School of Medicine.Dr. Goljo was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina and grew up on Long Island, NY. He received his medical degree from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, completed internal medicine training at Yale New Haven Hospital, and completed general cardiology training at Stony Brook University Hospital on Long Island, where he was named chief cardiology fellow. Biography: Dr. Joshua B. Goldberg is a board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian Hospital, and the Surgical Director of the Structural Heart Surgery Program.Dr. Goldberg earned his Medical Degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was a Rudin Scholar, he was awarded the prestigious David E. Rodgers Fellowship from the New York Academy of Medicine for his research, and where he graduated with a degree of distinction in Cardiac Surgery.He completed his General Surgery Internship and Residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where he also spent 2 years dedicated to cardiovascular outcomes research, resulting in numerous publications and national presentations. While at Dartmouth, he was awarded the "Best of the Best Award" for "superior patient care, delivered with kindness and compassion".Dr. Goldberg then completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship and served as Chief Resident at Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital and while there, trained at Boston Children's Hospital. While at the MGH, Dr Goldberg continued his research, and was throughout awarded the opportunity to present his research at National and International conferences.Dr. Goldberg is honored to be recruited to join the world class Cardiothoracic Surgery team at Weill Cornell. He brings with him a decade of experience and expertise caring for some of the highest risk patients, with the most complex cardiac surgical problems. There are few surgeons in the world who are as skilled with both open surgical and transcatheter skills in treating complex diseases of the aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valves, aortic aneurysms, coronary arteries, heart failure, transplants, and pulmonary embolisms. Dr. Goldberg's extensive experience treating high-risk complex diseases and his passion for delivering the highest quality care with the utmost safety, has resulted in his development of numerous novel techniques and protocols to safely manage patients with complex problems. His focus on quality and safety, as well as his personalized bedside manner, has resulted in numerous annual Top Doc awards.Dr. Goldberg has authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters. He served as the Chair for the American Heart Association's Scientific Statement on the surgical management of pulmonary embolisms and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Consensus Statement on endocarditis. His research has been recognized with numerous awards including "Best Journal Article of the Year", "Editor in Chief's Top Picks of the Year", and "Most Important Article of the year". Dr. Goldberg is an active member of numerous national and international academic societies such as the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association for Thoracic Surgery, and the American Heart Association where he holds positions on the workforce on evidence based surgery, workforce on ethics, and structural heart working group.

Biography: Dr. Balaram previous role was as Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Quality and Performance for Cardiovascular Surgery for Mount Sinai Heart at Mount Sinai Morningside. She has over two decades of experience in the care of cardiac surgical patients in New York City. Dr. Balaram earned her BA/MD at the accelerated 6-year medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, one of the only clinically integrated programs in the country. After graduating with honors, she pursued a General Surgery residency at Creighton University. While in training, she earned her PhD doing atherosclerosis bench research on the immunologic factors in atherosclerosis. She then completed her Cardiothoracic Residency in 2003 at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. At a time when techniques for robotic and minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery were just beginning, she arrived in New York in 2003 for this specialized training at St. Luke's Roosevelt, ?During her subsequent years at this hospital, (now called Mount Sinai Morningside), she developed an interest in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a congenital disorder of the heart muscle. She assisted in the advancement of surgical techniques for HCM and consolidated the data collection and careful analysis of clinical research. This led to the creation of the leading HCM program in the region, and one of the few nationally-recognized specialized HCM centers of excellence in the world. Dr. Balaram has spent much of her career caring for a population of inner city and underserved patients who have had little previous exposure and access to medical care. The New York State cardiac surgery registry continually recognized the patients of her program as some of the highest risk in the state to undergo cardiac surgery. Her successful surgical care of these complex patients required expert knowledge and experience that is of benefit to all patients. Her program earned the prestigious 3-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgery over multiple years. Dr. Balaram also studied clinical outcomes of women after heart surgery. Women are known to be at higher risk for cardiac surgery and may not always enjoy the same long-term benefits as men. Dr. Balaram collaborated with medical experts in gender studies and is able to offer surgical approaches and postoperative therapies that can help women recover from surgery. In her free time, Dr. Balaram enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and playing the piano. Her current passion is the creation of Team Cardiac, a new cardiac surgical chapter of the 501c3 charity Operation International. This surgical mission group was co-founded by her husband , Ravi Kothuru, 25 years ago and has provided free surgical care to thousands of patients around the world. She is also publishing a book "Complications in Cardiac Surgery: Strategic Analysis and Clinical Review", that will help young surgeons learn about how to improve cardiac surgical outcomes. Dr. Balaram understands that beyond the technical aspects, having heart surgery can be an anxious time for patients. Her goal is to deliver an individualized, patient-centered approach towards cardiovascular therapies. She strives to use her surgical expertise and experience to provide the best operation at the correct time and to do so with compassion and care. Biography: Jeffrey W. Moses, MD, is a renowned interventional cardiologist and Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Moses serves as the Director of Interventional Cardiovascular Therapeutics at Columbia Interventional Cardiovascular Care and the Director of Advanced Cardiac Interventions at St Francis Hospital and Heart Center in Roslyn, NY.With a track record of over 18,000 interventional procedures, Dr. Moses is an accomplished researcher. He has served as a lead investigator for numerous national and international clinical studies and authored over 600 publications, many focusing on the effectiveness and safety of coronary stent placement. Notably, his pivotal role in a 2002 clinical trial resulted in the first U.S. FDA approval of a drug-coated stent, now widely used in American interventional procedures.Dr. Moses contributed to the Executive Committee of the PARTNER trial, which introduced the first transcatheter aortic valve for clinical use in the U.S. A pioneer in various approaches, including minimally invasive surgery, angioplasty, gene therapy, and novel imaging technologies, he extends the application of interventional cardiovascular procedures. Biography: Joanna S. Troulakis, MD, is a cardiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens, specializing in general cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and vascular studies interpretation. After graduating from University of Illinois College of Medicine, Dr. Troulakis served her internal medicine residency at Hofstra/Northwell Health. She served her fellowship in cardiovascular disease at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, where she was named chief cardiology fellow and focused on non-invasive and clinical cardiology. Dr. Troulakis is also Board certified in Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Troulakis has published and presented her research at annual meetings of CHEST and the American College of Cardiology, and in various medical journals.
