Biography: Dr. Ana Alzaga Fernandez is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive eye care and specializes in Cornea, Refractive and Cataract Surgery. Dr. Alzaga Fernandez graduated from the medical school of the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas in Tampico, Mexico. She received the "Dr. Rodolfo Maya Gonzalez" award given to the most outstanding student from her class. She then completed a research fellowship at the Retinal Vascular Center at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, TX. After completion of an internal medicine preliminary internship year at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, TX, she pursued her ophthalmology training at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. She was selected to be chief resident with her main focus in research development amongst her peers. After residency, she completed a one year fellowship program in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine Ophthalmology. Dr. Alzaga Fernandez has participated in several book chapters and publications, and has been involved in multiple research protocols. She is highly committed to medical student and resident education. Dr. Alzaga Fernandez focuses on providing excellence in patient care and her ability to speak fluent Spanish, Italian and French bridges language gaps to ensure the best patient experience. Her main clinical interests are corneal and anterior segment diseases in both adult and pediatric populations, ocular surface disorders, dry eye, corneal transplantation, cataract surgery and laser vision correction.

Biography: Sonali D. Talsania, MD is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Medical Center and the NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist who completed fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. She specializes in the ophthalmologic care of children and the surgical treatment of strabismus (eye misalignment) in both children and adults. She conducts general pediatric ophthalmologic exams and provides surgical and medical care for a variety of pediatric ophthalmologic conditions, including blocked tear ducts, amblyopia, childhood cataracts, dermoid cyst removal, and eyelid droop repair. She graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in Biology (focus: Neurobiology) and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed an internship at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard training hospital. She then did her residency at Boston Medical Center, affiliated with Boston University. During residency, she was recognized for her work teaching medical students and received an award for her research in orbital cellulitis in children. She completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Duke Eye Center and practiced for several years in South Florida before joining Columbia.Dr. Talsania is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She has published in the field of pediatric ophthalmology on the topics of strabismus following glaucoma drainage device implantation and pediatric corneal cross-linking for keratoconus. She was selected as the Jonas Scholar for her work in pediatric ophthalmology at Columbia. She focuses on providing thoughtful care to patients of all ages, and is also dedicated to teaching residents, for which she was honored with the John Wheeler Martin Memorial Teaching Award.

Biography: Dr. Chelnis is recognized as a 2020 Top Doctor, Best Plastic Surgeon, and Super Doctors Rising Star with a special focus around your most prominent facial feature- your eyes! Dr. Chelnis serves as a cosmetic and functional surgeon and treats patients of all ages, from birth onward. He is trained in oculoplastics and ophthalmology. He completed his fellowship subspecialty training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and University of Tennessee. He returned to New York and is now the only oculoplastics provider at Mount Sinai Hospital in the upper east side of Manhattan. He has published and presented dozens of times within his field, both national and internationally, including the Sydney Eye Hospital in Australia, and Osaka, Japan. He has won awards for his research and funding from sources such as the Manhattan Eye Foundation. He is the Chief of the Young Ophthalmologists Info Editorial Board. This national publication focuses on education and empowering young physicians specializing in eye and periocular surgery. He is also an oculoplastics section editor of Eyewiki, a web presence of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. James Chelnis has also been recognized for his teaching and volunteerism, receiving the ``Excellence in Ancillary Clinics Award`` for his work in theEast Harlem Hospital Outreach Program in association with the Mount Sinai Health System.
