Biography: Following dual fellowship training in colorectal surgery and minimally invasive surgery, my clinical practice has specialized in minimally invasive approaches to colorectal diseases, with specific focus on laparoscopy, and robotic surgery to treat colon and rectal cancer. Based on my research experience, I have also become an expert in transanal endoscopic surgery, which complements other minimally invasive surgical approaches to treat rectal cancer.

Care Philosophy: Basem Nady Azab, MD, is the director of surgical oncology at Staten Island University Hospitals Florina Cancer Center at Northwell, one of the largest cancer programs in the New York metropolitan area. Hes the first and only doctor in the country who is triple board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, American Board of Medicine and American Board of Surgical Oncology.
