Care Philosophy: Dr. Hector Rodriguez Navarro has dedicated his entire professional life to service patients in the ultimate physician shortage area of New York City; the South Bronx. Not only does he work there- he lives there. In 1976 he told the admissions committee of the Stony Brook Medical School that he wanted to practice medicine in the South Bronx. That is exactly where he is at 44 years, and a whole medical career after. In 1983, when doctors were fleeing the Bronx, away from the heat and the fire of social unrest that had created the pejorative name of Fort Apache for the South Bronx, he walked right into it. He fulfilled his professional need to contribute to the inner city medical needs. In 2020 he's cared for a considerable number of patients with Covid-19 symptoms, with a combination of traditional and alternative medicine, with excellent results. 100% of his patients were kept from visiting the emergency room or the hospital. Outstanding given the very high mortality rate in the Bronx.
