Biography: Dr. Christine M. Salvatore is Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics. She is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Associate Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases.She received her M.D. in Italy at the University of Trieste, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, and completed her pediatric residency in Italy at Burlo Garofolo Children`s Hospital in Trieste (Italy). After working in Italy as an attending pediatrician,Dr. Salvatorecame to the United States where she completed additional pediatric training at Jacobi Medical Center in New York City, and a fellowship in pediatric infectious disease at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Her interest in pediatric infectious diseases began in Italy, where she collaborated as Principal Site Investigator with the PENTA (Pediatric European Network for the Treatment of AIDS) and the Italian Register for HIV Infection in Children. Since then, Dr. Salvatore has been involved in several clinical trials. Clinical and translational research is one of her main interests. While at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, she also conducted basic research studying, in a murine model, treatment strategies for Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections andthe pathogenesis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae respiratory infections.Since at Weill Cornell Medicine she has conducted bench to bedside translational research trying toestablish the effectiveness of fungal biomarkers, in particular (1-3)--D-glucan, in the diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring of invasive fungal infections in pediatrics. Studying the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of joint and bone infections in children isanother of her interests. Demonstrating her longstanding commitment to medical education, she has given lectures to medical students, residents and medical staff on general pediatrics, pediatric infectious diseases, pediatric HIV, infectious complications in pediatricimmunocompromised hosts andantimicrobials principles.

Biography: Dr. Alexandra LeBental was born and raised in New Jersey before completing her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis. She remained at Washington University to obtain her Master of Public Health degree with a focus on epidemiology and biostatistics. She then received her medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Temple University in Philadelphia. She was selected and served as the Administrative Chief Resident during her final year of training. She received the following awards during her tenure as resident: Recognition of Excellence in Resident Research, Recognition of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology, and Award for Excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.After completing her residency, she worked for a hospital-based faculty practice in the Bronx before joining the Weill Cornell faculty to provide excellent patient-centered care for the full range of obstetric and gynecologic care. She is board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Biography: Dr. Mateo Mejia is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.Dr. Mejia received his medical degree (M.D.) from the Universidad CES in his hometown of Medellin, Colombia, after which he completed an internal medicine residency at the Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, where he also served as a Chief Resident. He completed his Hematology and Oncology fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and joined the Hematology and Medical Oncology Division after completing his fellowship training in 2023. During fellowship, Dr. Mejia developed his clinical experience under the mentorship of Dr. Ruben Niesvizky, while pursuing his laboratory research at Dr. Mark Bustoros' Laboratory, being able to complete both clinical and translational research in the plasma cell malignancy field.Dr. Mejia's research has focused on the genomic drivers of aggressive forms of myeloma, for which he received the 2022 Conquer Cancer American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award, a prestigious honor only given to 100 of people each year. Additionally, Dr. Mejia was the recipient ofthe 2022 Charles, Lillian and Betty Neuwirth Foundation Fellowship in Oncology award for his project "Genomic Landscape of Multiple Myeloma with Extramedullary Disease". Dr. Mejia's research also investigates the connectionof race, ethnicity and myeloma, how myeloma escapes the surveillance of the immune system, as well as how genetic information can be used to develop novel approaches to treat myeloma.
