Biography: Dr. Joseph Scott is a Psychiatrist in Maine who has been practicing since 2016. He has a Bachelor™s of Science, Psychology Major, Pre-Med Track from Northeastern University, went to Medical School at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his Residency in Psychiatry from Rowan University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Scott strives to treat the whole person, not just one or two symptoms. He gets to know his patients and listens to everything they have to tell him. Dr. Scott then likes to educate them about what he sees and how the different treatment options can help. In this way they can make good decisions about treatment and goals. Outside of work, Dr. Scott enjoys live performances, from Broadway shows to small community theater and from stadium concerts to small intimate venues. He is a gardener, a fisherman, a player of games, and a cook. His wife says he is a collector of junk, but they enjoy combing the beach together looking for treasures. He™s mostly a Dad to his beautiful children. What could be better?

Biography: It is the brave person who allows him or herself to feel vulnerable, admit there is a problem, and take steps to find the right help. Loneliness, sadness, anxiety, depression, irritability, anger and/or mood swings are common experiences. Some have experienced trauma in the past, which may continue to cause problems today. I am committed to help people live their best lives._x000D_ I completed a medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and am board-certified in Psychiatry and Preventive Medicine. I graduated from Williams College, and after medical school, completed my specialty trainings at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency Program and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health General Preventive Medicine Residency program. Some examples of the places I have lived and worked are: a public mental health outpatient clinic in New Zealand, a private practice in Berlin, Germany, the Veterans Administration in Baltimore, Maryland, and a quaternary trauma center at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Maryland. Therefore, I welcome working with people from different backgrounds and viewpoints._x000D_ As a child of Asian immigrants to the U.S.A., I grew up with many identities. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the complex interactions that exist across generations, within families, and between different cultures. I see our relationship as collaborative, so that you may come away with a greater clarity on what you seek help with, and a better understanding of your treatment options.
