He went on to complete his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine in Irvine, CA. Dr. Madrid completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico, VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM, and finished his fellowship in Gastroenterology from the same school. Dr. Madrid is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Biography: Dr. Rafiq completed her gastroenterology fellowship at the State University of New York in 2005. She worked at Presbyterian Medical Group as an attending gastroenterologist for four years before joining the University of New Mexico in 2009 to pursue advanced training in endoscopic ultrasound. Dr Rafiq completed her endoscopic ultrasound training in 2010. Dr. Rafiq specializes in pancreaticobiliary disease, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, barretts esophagus, radio frequency ablation, single balloon enteroscopy and video capsule endoscopy.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Modanlou's professional interests include all aspects of general surgery and complex problems of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas including minimally invasive techniques. He strongly believes in a multidisciplinary approach to complex medical problems and personalization of the patient experience.
