Biography: Dr. Madison is a fellowship trained, board-certified Orthopaedic trauma surgeon specializing in the treatment of complex fractures and dislocations in adults and children. As an Orthopaedic traumatologist, he treats fractures of the shoulder, arm, elbow, forearm, wrist, pelvis, hip, femur, knee, lower leg, ankle, and foot. Dr. Madison was born and raised in Lenexa, KS. He earned his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed Residency at SUNY- Stony Brook University Hospital and went on to an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga. Dr. Madison comes to Wichita after spending the first 5 years of his practice at the University of South Alabama where he served as Assistant Professor and Director of Orthopaedic Trauma. Biography: Jacob Birlingmair, MD is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at AOA with clinical experience in the comprehensive treatment of spinal disorders from the neck through the lower back. Prior to joining AOA, Dr. Birlingmair earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He earned a Doctorate of Medicine from Rush Medical College of Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. While in medical school he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. After residency, he completed a combined Orthopedic and Neurosurgical spine fellowship at the world renowned Norton Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, Kentucky. There he trained under both orthopedic spine surgeons and neurosurgeons, exposing him to a diverse set of surgical techniques. He has experience with standard open operative techniques, as well as modern innovative techniques, such as computer guided navigation and robotic spine surgery. Dr. Birlingmair is experienced in a range of highly specialized procedures including spinal fusions of the back and neck, discectomy, laminoplasty, laminectomy, minimally invasive procedures, and robotic assisted spine surgery. Dr. Birlingmair treats a range of spine-related conditions, including spinal injuries, adult and pediatric spinal deformity, fractures, degenerative disease, disc herniations, and spinal stenosis. Dr. Birlingmair has made a lifelong commitment to providing the highest level of care to as many patients as possible and to remain at the forefront on a path toward the advancement of the field of spine surgery. His primary goal is to educate patients and provide them with a full understanding of their diagnosis, including the non-operative and operative treatments for the management of their specific spinal condition.
