Biography: Dr. Schweitzer received her osteopathic medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She completed her internship and residency training at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, FL. She has been practicing family medicine for 13 years, and joined TriStar in 2013. Dr. Mayfield's honors and awards include Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Kappa Phi from the University of Mississippi, Gamma Beta Phi, and Phi Eta Sigma at Vanderbilt University. He was a 1990 National Merit Finalist. Dr. Mayfield was a member of the Carl G. Evers Society at the University of Mississippi where he established a Student/Faculty Mentor Program, and worked on a Professor Awards Banquet, Course Evaluation Protocols, and organized Primary Care Day for Medical Students. He has been a member of the Pharmacology Liaison Committee, the American Medical Association, and the Christian Medical/Dental Association Surgery Committee at The University of South Alabama. Dr. Mayfield and his wife have four children. He enjoys running, mountain biking, swimming, music (trumpet, guitar, and choir), computers, and reading.
