Biography: Dr. Heinze earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, where he graduated with Distinction in Medical Education. His commendable work included developing and implementing programs to support students from communities traditionally underrepresented in medicine to pursue medical careers. He then went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Chicago Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary (IEEI). During his residency he was selected to serve as chief resident and nominated by his peers to receive the departmental Resident Education Award. He further specialized with a two-year fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at IEEI, accredited by the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As a fellow, Dr. Heinze received the departmental Resident Education Award once again, along with the Fellow of the Year Award, in recognition of his continued dedication to resident and medical student education.Dr. Heinze is author and co-author of a number of journal articles and book chapters. His areas of clinical and research interest include utilization of artificial intelligence to streamline clinical processes, resident surgical education, and the development and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts aimed at supporting learners of all levels to pursue careers in medicine and ophthalmology.

Biography: Dr. Shi is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Shi is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and skilled in general ophthalmology. She specializes in glaucoma evaluation and treatment, including medical management, laser, and glaucoma surgery. She performs cataract surgery and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.Dr. Shi completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard University and her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at the prestigious UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles, CA, one of the highest-ranked programs in the nation. She remained there to continue her fellowship in Glaucoma. She is involved in clinical research and authored several peer-reviewed journal articles.Dr. Shi is currently accepting new patients. Biography: Sonali D. Talsania, MD is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Medical Center and the NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist who completed fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. She specializes in the ophthalmologic care of children and the surgical treatment of strabismus (eye misalignment) in both children and adults. She conducts general pediatric ophthalmologic exams and provides surgical and medical care for a variety of pediatric ophthalmologic conditions, including blocked tear ducts, amblyopia, childhood cataracts, dermoid cyst removal, and eyelid droop repair. She graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in Biology (focus: Neurobiology) and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed an internship at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard training hospital. She then did her residency at Boston Medical Center, affiliated with Boston University. During residency, she was recognized for her work teaching medical students and received an award for her research in orbital cellulitis in children. She completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Duke Eye Center and practiced for several years in South Florida before joining Columbia.Dr. Talsania is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She has published in the field of pediatric ophthalmology on the topics of strabismus following glaucoma drainage device implantation and pediatric corneal cross-linking for keratoconus. She was selected as the Jonas Scholar for her work in pediatric ophthalmology at Columbia. She focuses on providing thoughtful care to patients of all ages, and is also dedicated to teaching residents, for which she was honored with the John Wheeler Martin Memorial Teaching Award.

Biography: Matthew D. Nguyen, MD, is a board certified fellowship trained ophthalmologist with an interest in cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery including Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and Descemet's stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK), refractive surgery, anterior segment surgery, and general ophthalmologic practice. He provides comprehensive eye exams for corneal conditions, cataracts, diabetes, dry eye, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Ophthalmologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine.Dr. Nguyen was born in Virginia and grew up in New York and New Jersey. He graduated from Columbia University in New York with a BA in Neuroscience and Behavior. He remained in New York for his MD at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was awarded the Behrens Memorial Prize in Ophthalmology. He received his ophthalmology residency training at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was given the Distinguished Housestaff Award. Following residency, he completed a cornea fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
