Biography: Antonio Lassaletta, MD, FACS, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained thoracic surgeon with Coastal Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He then completed internship and residency training in General Surgery, serving as chief resident, and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Harvard Medical School - Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, as well as a Cardiac Surgery research fellowship at Brown University in Providence, Rode Island. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. In addition to English, Dr. Lassaletta is fluent in Spanish.Dr. Lassaletta provides patients with expertise in general thoracic surgery, complex surgery of the lung and chest, robotic thoracic surgery, esophageal surgery, and upper abdominal surgery. With a passion for minimally invasive and robotic techniques, he is committed to providing cutting-edge, patient-centered care for the wide range of thoracic disorders and diseases including lung cancer, benign lung disease, esophageal cancer, GERD and hiatal hernias, and esophageal motility disorders using new technologies and ever smaller incisions. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Certified Diplomate of the both the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He serves as an expert reviewer for the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine and a robotic thoracic surgery proctor for the da Vinci Surgery Community, Intuitive Surgical. Dr. Lassaletta previously served as the division chief of Thoracic Surgery and director of Surgical Robotic Education at Tufts Medical Center and assistant professor of Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. He has received countless awards and honors, most recently named a "Top Doctor" in thoracic and cardiac surgery in Boston Magazine and with Castle Connolly. Dr. Lassaletta has performed and presented extensive research on topics including surgical robotics, advancement of surgical technology, novel techniques, and surgical education.When not seeing patients, he enjoys peacefully living in Southern Maine, traveling as much as possible, and skiing when the conditions are good.
