Biography: Dr. Michael Martinez is a native of the Rio Grande Valley and a product of the Edinburg school system. After completing undergraduate studies at Princeton University with a degree in psychology and a focus on neuroscience, he went on to receive his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Martinez completed general surgery residency training at Scott and White Hospital in central Texas. He then pursued further specialty training in the area of advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of South Florida at Tampa General Hospital. Dr. Martinez is board certified by the American College of Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. Dr. Martinez is a full-time advance laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon. He is also part of the surgical faculty for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley surgical residency program. In 2023, she was awarded the Women of Distinction Award by both the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and TAMACC. Before joining our center in 2024, she worked as a primary care physician at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center before taking on the role of medical director of Ashley Health Family and Occupational Medicine clinics and Ashley Pediatrics Day and Night Clinics. She finds senior care to be extremely rewarding and is committed to patient-centered care, disease prevention, and treating chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. Dr. Bose is dedicated to empowering her patients and partnering with them to lead healthier lives. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and dogs.
