Biography: Dr. Homan completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at NewYork-Presbyterian/Cornell, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow and undertook an additional year of laboratory training in cardiometabolic biology with Dr. James Lo. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia, before which he received his M.D. degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Prior to medical school he earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University and received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Florida in Gainesville.Dr. Homan's research has focused on understanding the relationship between obesity and cardiovascular disease. During his cardiology fellowship at Weill Cornell, he studied the role of the innate immune system in obesity-related liver disease and heart failure, and he received the Glorney-Raisbeck Fellowship Award in Cardiovascular Disease. In his PhD research at Harvard University, he discovered a new class of endogenous lipid molecules that he named fatty acyl hydroxy fatty acids (FAHFAs), which were ultimately found to have anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory properties.Dr. Homan is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology and a member of the National Lipid Association, and member of the American Society of Echocardiography. Biography: Dr. Feldman is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology of the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and an Attending Physician at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center.Dr. Feldman grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, completed Internal Medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, where she completed the Clinician Educator Track, fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine, and an additional fellowship in Cardio-Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After training, she founded and directed the Cardio-Oncology and Cardiac Amyloidosis programs at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School/University Hospital. In 2023, she joined the Cardiology Division at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical College as a full-time faculty member where she provides expertise in cardio-oncology, cardiac imaging, and medical education. She serves as the Director of the Cardio-Oncology program.Dr. Feldman is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardio-Oncology. Biography: Giora Weisz, MD, is an Associate Professor in Clinical Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and serves as the Director of the cardiac Cath Lab at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. He graduated from the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel, and completed his residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowship at the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa, Israel. Dr. Weisz finished his interventional cardiology training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Weisz focuses on current and innovative technologies. His expertise includes novel robotic-enhanced coronary interventions, with a special emphasis on navigation and positioning technologies. Vahl, MD, is the Director of Translational Research and is an attending physician at the Columbia Structural Heart and Valve Center and Columbia Interventional Cardiovascular Care at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Vahl is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Vahl is board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and internal medicine. He specializes in the percutaneous treatment of coronary artery and structural heart disease and cardiac catheterization. His primary focus is on transcatheter aortic valve replacements, transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement, and left atrial appendage closure. Dr. Vahl is also very involved in many preclinical and first-in-human studies through his association with the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. For example, Dr. Vahl led the ALIGN-AR trial as a national PI, a position that evolved out of his experience with the device from the preclinical studies. Dr. Vahl frequently proctors other interventional cardiologists on TAVR in aortic regurgitation with the Trilogy valve and on TMVR with the Cephea valve. Within the left atrial appendage closure, Dr. Vahl has been very active in developing our intracardiac echo program which allows patients to get this procedure without the need for general anesthesia and TEE. Dr. Vahl attended medical school at the Philipps-Universitt in Marburg, Germany. He did his internal medicine residency and his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He also completed a fellowship in both interventional cardiology and structural interventional cardiology, focusing on valvular heart disease, at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
