Biography: Dr. Besold is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky and completed residency training at the Indiana University Medical Center.

Care Philosophy: I chose to go into primary care because it allowed me to be at the front lines of healthcare. I'm able to build strong relationships with my patients and their families, become a staple of a community and care for people of all ages. Care Philosophy: ``My philosophy of care is really that I as the pediatrician am a member of the family's team and need to work with them to get the child well and practicing healthy habits. We live in a modern age where parents have access to lots of information and sometimes that can be very confusing for them. They have opinions from grandparents, aunts, uncles, they have the Internet and so I want to work with moms and dads to sort through that and figure out what works for their family.``

Care Philosophy: ``As a primary care physician I work to partner with my patients. I share information with them and help them make good decisions about their health and well being. When patients come to see me for the first time they can expect that we'll spend time talking about their past medical history and what types of issues they may have had. I also want to learn what current health concerns they have, talk with them about their options and come up with a plan that's best for them but also is going to benefit their health.``

Care Philosophy: ``My philosophy of care can be described in two main concepts: prevention and communication. I'm very passionate about nutrition and wellness. I like to treat things without medication if at all possible. My second focus is really just communicating and connecting. I like the challenge of trying to win over an anxious toddler and working to gain the trust and confidentiality of a teenage patient.``

Care Philosophy: ``My philosophy of care starts with preventive care. I think that's really the area where we have our best ability to grow and improve. So I really like to emphasize good healthy choices and hope to model that behavior myself. Additionally, I'm very interested in getting to know the patient a little bit socially. I like to know where they're at in their lives, what their needs and wishes are. I like to say ultimately the patient is the captain of their own ship and my job is to inform them and to help guide them.``
