Biography: Dr. Yanis Alfonso Fernandez, a board-certified family medicine specialist, completed her family medicine residency at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. Dr. Alfonso Fernandez earned her medical degree from the University of Medical Sciences in Havana, Cuba, receiving the Award for Academic Excellence and serving family medicine and ophthalmology residencies. Before joining Conviva in 2023, Dr. Alfonso Fernandez practiced family medicine in Naples, Florida. She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Fernandez has been recognized for her medical contributions to the Three Hundred Thousand Miracles (eye surgeries performed in underserved populations in Venezuela) and as part of an International medical brigade caring for the victims of Hurricane Stan in Guatemala. "Caring for older adults has shown me what matters most in life," remarked Dr. Alfonso Fernandez. She believes in treating patients as she would those closest to her, teaching them to prioritize their health and well-being, echoing Conviva's values.
