As a former Division I student-athlete trained in Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship, I provide a unique perspective to my patients. I have worked with teams and athletes from the amateur to professional levels. My goal is to team up with each patient to create an individualized plan to guide their return to peak performance. I feel privileged to be a part of the Clear Lake community and to give back to all the great people that live here!

Biography: Dr. Joseph Martinez is a board-certified Neurosurgery specialist in Conroe, Texas. He completed a double major in Chemistry and Economics at the University of New Mexico before attending Medical School at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, both in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Martinez completed his neurosurgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at the University of Miami in Miami, FL.Dr. Martinez entered into the field of neurosurgery because he enjoys the intricacies and detail of the nervous system as well as understanding the mechanisms underlying how things work in the human body. His care philosophy is "to provide surgical treatments for my patients as I would have them provided for me". Dr. Martinez is committed to his craft and prides himself in his ability to communicate effectively with all his patients, utilizing the principles which guide his approach to patient carehonesty, transparency, integrity and respect for human dignity and autonomy.In addition to being a Fellow of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons Dr. Martinez is also a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Biography: Board certified and practices general orthopaedics with special interest in fracture management, arthroscopy, cartilage preservation and joint replacement. He has extensive experience in sports medicine, having completed a Fellowship in the discipline at Methodist Hospital in Houston, where he trained in advanced open and arthroscopic techniques for knee, shoulder, elbow and hip. He has worked as an assistant team physician to several professional teams in Houston: the Texans, Astros, Rockets and Dynamo, as well as for Rice University and HISD.In addition to his work with professional athletes, Dr. Lin has knowledge and expertise with orthopaedic injuries sustained by military personnel. During his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he was awarded commendation for research he conducted on those injuries sustained during Operation Enduring Freedom, which was published and presented at national meetings. Following residency, Dr. Lin served as an orthopaedic surgeon and Chief, Department of Surgery at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, which served the active duty, dependent and retiree population in and around Fort Polk, Louisiana (home of the Joint Readiness Training Center). He was also deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 31st Combat Support Hospital in 2007.Dr. Lin was born in Taiwan and raised in West Windsor, New Jersey.
