Biography: Anthony R. Tascone, M.D., FACS,specializes in general surgery and bariatric surgery at ChristianaCare. Biography: Arvind Sabesan, MD, FACS, is a Surgical Oncologist, who specializes in the treatment and management of patients with complex oncologic malignancies. He is extensively trained in advanced and innovative techniques to diagnose, stage, and treat patients with advanced cancers. He employs a variety of strategies, including minimally invasive techniques (robotic surgery) and multidisciplinary cancer care to personalize treatment for patients with a wide range of oncologic disorders. Dr. Sabesan has a diverse surgical oncology patient base that includes treatment of liver, pancreas, gallbladder, intestinal, colon, esophageal and stomach cancers. In addition, he also manages patients with melanoma, sarcoma, peritoneal and neuroendocrine tumors. He also maintains a very active practice in endocrine and head and neck diseases such as thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal diseases/cancers. He is involved in numerous multidisciplinary tumor boards including, the Hepatobiliary/Pancreatic, Melanoma/Sarcoma and Endocrine clinics. Dr. Sabesan earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his residency in General Surgery from ChristianaCare. He completed a prestigious Surgical Oncology Research fellowship at the National Institute of Health where he studied the use of immunotherapy for the treatment of advanced cancers. He then completed an NCI-designated Complex Surgical Oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center. He also holds a fellowship from the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Sabesan is an active member of numerous national societies including the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, and the Society of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Sabesan serves on multiple national committees including the SAGES Oncologic Task Force and SSO GI Disease Site working group. Dr. Sabesan has published several peer reviewed articles and has presented his research at multiple national and international meetings. As a cancer surgeon, Dr. Sabesan understands patients' fear and confusion when they receive a new cancer diagnosis. He believes in listening to patients' concerns to help them understand their disease and working together toward creating a treatment plan based on their individual needs.
