Biography: Dr. Malini Khanna specializes in non-surgical management of spine and sports injury. For neck and back injuries, she performs fluoroscopic guided injections including sacroiliac joint injections, epidurals, facet injections, medial branch blocks, and radiofrequency ablations. For neurological injuries, she is able to perform electromyography and nerve conduction studies (EMG/NCS). Dr. Khanna has additional training in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which allows her to diagnose and perform precise injections to the area of injury. She has a particular interest in treating chronic tendon problems with minimally invasive techniques. In order to provide the best care possible for her patients, Dr. Khanna is also certified in medical acupuncture. She is passionate about providing non-surgical options for her patients. Dr. Khanna received her bachelor's degree from George Washington University in Washington DC, in Biological Studies with a secondary concentration in Exercise Science. She subsequently attended George Washington University School of Medicine for her medical degree. She completed her internship at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. She came to Philadelphia to pursue her residency at University of Pennsylvania in the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Her fellowship was in Sports Medicine and Interventional Spine at Performance Spine and Sports Medicine. Biography: As a former intercollegiate soccer athlete, Dr. Lisa Kaplin has enthusiasm for all things sports- and fitness-related.This passion carries into her practice as a physician and surgeon, where she helps patients get back to competitive sports, recreation and fitness.Having enjoyed biology and other sciences while an undergrad at Brandeis University, Dr. Kaplin was particularly drawn to the field of medicine by a fascination with the ability of her fellow athletes to both avoid and overcome injury.Afterward, she went on to earn a masters in medical science from Boston University followed by a D.O. from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. During the course of her early career Dr. Kaplin covered teams in hockey, rugby, basketball and football. In 2019, she completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Wake Forest University College of Medicine.Dr. Kaplin will tell you that the patient is the priority all the time. She works to create an environment of trust and understanding, so that they feel comfortable and confident as partners in their care.In her free time she enjoys exercising and spending time with her family. She is married and has two children; a 5 year old daughter and a 3 year old son.
