Biography: Dr. Kotapka is the Chairman of the Division of Neurosurgery at Einstein. He treats benign and malignant tumors of the brain, including pituitary and cranial base. He also has special interest in the treatment of cerebral aneurysms, degenerative spinal conditions including disc disease and spinal stenosis, and the treatment of neurological trauma. Previously Dr. Kotapka served as Vice-Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and was Co-Director of the Center for Cranial Base Surgery and the Pituitary Tumor Program. Dr. Kotapka is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Biography: Patrick B. Cooper, MD, FAANS joined Einstein Healthcare Network's Division of Neurosurgery and is a member of the Einstein Spine Institute, an interdisciplinary team of Einstein physicians from Neurosurgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pain Management, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Cooper joined us from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he had been a senior staff neurosurgeon from 2006 to 2015. During that time he was the Center's director of neurosurgical oncology and the neurosurgery consultant to the Army Surgeon General from 2012 to 2015. Dr. Cooper is board-certified in neurological surgery and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army in 2015. He earned his medical degree from the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He completed his internship and neurosurgery residency training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and received additional, specialized training in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Neurological Surgery. He is seeing patients at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia and Einstein Medical Center East Norriton.
