Biography: Finding great satisfaction in watching someone recover from an injury and return to living, Dr. David Novak chose the field of orthopaedic surgery because he wanted to have a direct impact on the quality of life of his patients. After earning a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Novak received his medical degree from Georgetown University where he was named a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Medical Honor Society. He remained in Washington, DC, at Georgetown University Medical Center to complete a residency in orthopaedic surgery. He then completed advanced fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys, California. Dr. Novak worked intensively with some of the best sports and arthroscopic surgeons in the country during his fellowship training and today is able to perform advanced arthroscopic techniques for a number of orthopaedic problems. His special interests include sports medicine and sports injuries, complex problems of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization for loose or dislocating shoulder, ACL and ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, and cartilage restoration of the knee, and adult joint reconstruction.

Care Philosophy: I believe that individualized comprehensive care involves treating the patient as a whole and not just the injury, taking into consideration your unique perspective and experiences. People can require musculoskeletal care from a myriad of reasons and at different stages of life. My goal is to help you understand your condition as well as all of the options available so that we together can make the best treatment plan to aid in your return to health and functionality. I understand that it is difficult when injury can prevent you from doing and enjoying the activities you love. It is my goal to provide the best possible care so that you can return to those activities as soon as possible.
