Radiation Oncology near Nashville, TN

Biography: Dr. My Nguyen is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he graduated with honors in Cellular and Molecular Biology. He attended Wayne State University Medical School and performed his internship at St. John's Hospital, both in Detroit Michigan. He then completed his radiation oncology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he also then attended a Fellowship in Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Prostate Brachytherapy. He has since served in the middle Tennessee area for over two decades. He has been at Skyline Medical Center since 1999, when it was formerly Nashville Memorial Hospital.He has experience treating all adult cancers in all areas of the body, but has a keen interest in primary brain tumors and prostate brachytherapy (seed implants). He currently serves as the chairman of the Cancer Committee at Skyline, and has overseen the accreditation for both the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Radiology. One of the most rewarding experiences was the procurement of the technological capability several years ago to administer stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), advances previously only available downtown. With this capability, relatively small brain lesions and early stage lung cancers can be eradicated in either only one treatment or a few fractions (mostly over one, but sometimes a two-week time frame).In his spare time, Dr. Nguyen loves spending time with his children: Alex, age 13, and his beautiful twin daughters, Rachel and Megan, age 11 (he is looking forward to the blissfully easy-going teenage years!). Dr. Nguyen and his family love the outdoors and spend their time biking, hiking, waterskiing/wake boarding and in the wintertime, skiing/snowboarding. Although time is limited, he also loves to read, usually nonfiction outdoor adventure.
