Biography: I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. I am a first generation Hispanic who comes from a hard working family that immigrated to the United States in search of the "American Dream." My parents instilled in me the importance of education, hard work, dedication and striving to be the best you can be.Practicing pediatrics has allowed me to be a teacher. Educating parents about the use of medications, particularly antibiotics, is very important because I know it makes a difference for the child's health in the long run. I am a strong proponent for allowing the body to try to heal itself in times of illness. I feel that there are situations where medications are indicated, but these situations are specific. Parents need to be provided with tools and information about what they need to watch for in their child in case a situation worsens.Throughout the years I have found that my profession as a pediatrician requires many other abilities: good communication, dedication, empathy, patience, trustworthiness, authenticity. I have been blessed that my parents worked to instill these qualities in me from a young age. I appreciate what a true privilege, blessing, and great responsibility it is when parents place their trust in me to provide the best possible care for their child. Therefore, I strive every day to continue to meet these highest of expectations.I know a little personally about children as well. My husband and I have four young children. We enjoy spending personal time with our extended families who are here in Wichita, changing diapers, and trying to stay ahead of the clutter that goes along with having young kids in the home!
