Biography: Jane T. Atkins, MD was born in New, Orleans, Louisiana. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University of New Orleans and a Doctrate of Medicine from Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans. She completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and also completed her fellowship training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Atkins is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases by the the American Board of Pediatrics. After completing her fellowship training in 1993, Dr. Atkins joined the faculty of University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston where she was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Atkins relocated to San Antonio, Texas and has been in private practice as a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Consultant in San Antonio since 2001. She serves as the hospital epidemiologist and antibiotic stewardship consultant for Methodist Children's Hospital. She and her husband Bob are the proud parents of two children. Dr. Atkins enjoys spending time with her large extended family in both Texas and Louisiana. She enjoys reading, writing poetry, and making jewelry.
