Biography: Athletics were an important part of my life as a child. Along with those activities came more than a few injuries which led to several orthopedic surgeries. Those procedures gave me a firsthand look at how important good orthopedic care can be. My goal is to help every patient experience improvement in their pain and get them back to activities that make them happy, which is what my orthopedic providers did for me. \n From the young to the elderly, from weekend warriors to high-level athletes, I appreciate the range of patients orthopedics allows me to see. I want each patient to know I will see and hear them so I can develop a treatment plan that is specific to them and their needs; then, I will answer any questions so, together, we can make the best decision for their health. \n My husband and I have two children, who keep us very busy! They are both active in sports, especially high-level soccer. We also enjoy hiking, camping and biking around Salem Lake as a family, and we can often be found together supporting the Wake Forest soccer team. My large family lives in our area, and we spend lots of time with relatives. When I get time to myself, I enjoy daily walks outside as well as reading or listening to books.

Biography: I am a second-generation podiatrist who has dedicated the last quarter century to healing people with foot and ankle problems and becoming an expert in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. \n My grandfather and uncle exposed me to podiatry when I was young, and seeing the fulfillment they received by healing patients inspired me to follow in their footsteps. Over the course of my career, I have used surgery and other therapies to reduce pain, improve function, increase stability, and reconstruct or salvage limbs damaged by injury, poor circulation, deformities and other conditions. My patients have included student athletes to weekend warriors and professional ballet dancers. \n Before moving to North Carolina in 2020, I cared for patients at a west central Florida podiatry clinic with my uncle. Later, I merged with two other physicians forming my own practice. In 2012, I was named chief of foot and ankle surgery at an 800-bed regional hospital. \n My approach - then and now - is to work with a healthcare team striving for excellence in outcomes, kindness and patience. I believe in honesty, setting realistic expectations and a collaborative approach that takes each patient's unique situation into consideration. One of my proudest professional moments came in 2018 when my peers nominated me to receive a hospital award in recognition of my kindness, bedside manner and ability to achieve exceptional outcomes in even the most difficult cases. \n I have written extensively about surgical techniques for podiatry textbooks and peer-reviewed medical journals. I also frequently speak about foot/ankle medicine and surgery topics at national conferences. \n I am originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, but my wife is a native North Carolinian. We met in college at Furman University in 1990 while we were getting our undergraduate education. I knew she was the one when I found out we shared a mutual love of the outdoors and fitness. We married in 1992 after graduation, and we were off to Des Moines, Iowa, for medical school. \n We have two children who love North Carolina so much that they attended universities in the area. As a family, we enjoy traveling, spending time in nature, kayaking and especially hiking in the mountains. The health and mobility of my family are very important to me, so I am committed to helping you and your family stay active and healthy.

Biography: As an athlete myself, I understand the impact pain and injury can have on performance and overall well-being. That is why I am so passionate about treating acute and chronic injuries for children, teens and adults. \n I started my career as a family medicine physician in 2015, when I often found myself treating sports injuries. In 2018, I realized that sports medicine allowed me to blend my love of family medicine with a passion for helping my patients get back to athletics, exercise or even simple, everyday tasks. Today, I remain board-certified in family medicine and hold a certificate of added qualification in primary care sports medicine. \n Patients hear advice every day from family, friends and the internet. My goal is to partner with my patients to understand their symptoms and goals for recovery. Then together, we gather the best information and develop a treatment plan that addresses the symptoms and takes into consideration any long-term impact. \n Within sports medicine, new techniques and treatment options continually evolve to help improve acute and chronic problems. I'm excited by treatment innovations and always look to see how I can transfer these new options into my patients? care. \n I am originally from Roanoke, Virginia, where most of my family still lives. I have six nieces and nephews, and I absolutely love being their aunt. In my spare time, I spend time with my significant other and our two dogs, Oliver and Murphy. We love hiking and walking as much as we can. I also enjoy playing volleyball and play in an adult soccer league on the weekends. I am a proud alumnus of the Virginia Tech women's soccer team, so you can often find me at Virginia Tech games cheering on my "Hokies." I am a huge fan of the U.S. Women's National Soccer team, with personal goal to catch one of its games live in the coming years. When not on the game field, I also enjoy gardening and baking.
