Biography: Dr. Carlos Martinez is a practicing physician in Nephology and Hypertension. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr. Martinez takes a dynamic approach to treatment, going beyond renal care to address the holistic needs of his patients. Dr. Martinez was born in Nicaragua, and returns to Central America often to visit family. He earned his medical degree in Madrid, Spain, where he completed a residency in Family Practice. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the State University of New York and his Nephrology Fellowship at The Mount Sanai Hospital and School of Medicine. Since 1991, when he founded Renal Physicians of Georgia, Dr. Martinez has been the Medical Director of various dialysis facilities in middle Georgia. He is a member of the Bibb County Medical Society, and works with patient advocates through the Southeastern Kidney Council. Dr. Martinez is the Principal Investigator for various research projects that seek to advance the care and treatment of renal disease. He is widely recognized by his colleagues as a trailblazer and innovator in bringing better care to all patients. In his free time, Dr. Martinez enjoys mountain biking and gardening. He is a committed community volunteer.
