Biography: Dr. Sheri L. Carroll is the Medical Director of Neonatology and the Director of the Vermont Oxford Network Quality Collaborative at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She is also the Treasurer and Secretary of Coastal Carolina Neonatology, PLLC. Dr. Carroll grew up in Wilmington until she left in her junior year of high school to attend the North Carolina School of Math and Science in Durham, NC. She received her medical degree at UNC and completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. After two years in General Pediatrics in upstate New York, she returned to North Carolina to complete her Neonatal Perinatal fellowship at UNC. Dr. Carroll returned home to Wilmington in 2006 as a neonatologist at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was part of the historic move to the Betty H. Cameron Women and Children's Hospital in September 2008. Dr. Carroll's interest is in quality improvement and she leads improvement teams at the unit, state and national level. Each has an appointment at the UNC School of Medicine, and academic or administrative interests, including: quality improvement, neuroprotection, neonatal ethics, clinical research, and developmental follow-up.
