Biography: Dr. Ana Degoy-Shahin graduated from the National University of Cordoba School of Medicine, Argentina in December 2001. Dr. Degoy finished her Residency Program in General Pediatrics from Brookdale University and Medical Center (Brooklyn, NY) in 2007 and obtained her fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine from Cohen Children's Medical Center Northwell Health in 2010. Dr Degoy holds academic appointment as an Assistant Professor in Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University since 2012. Dr. Ana Degoy-Shahin worked as a Neonatologist in Kidz Medical services (Miami, FL) from July 2010 until December 2012 after which Dr. Degoy accepted a position in New York at Lenox Hill Hospital (New York, New York) as an Attending Physician in August 2012. She joined New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit team on February 1st, 2023. Dr. Degoy received a CME/CPD Award from American Academy of Pediatrics in 2018 and the Physician Recognition Award from American Medical Association in Continuing Medical Education in the year 2020. Biography: Elvira Parravicini, MD, is a perinatologist/neonatologist, Director of the Neonatal Comfort Care Program, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Medical Center. She also obtained a Certification in Palliative Medicine from Harvard University. Her passion for helping the most fragile patients in the neonatal population inspired Dr. Parravicini to create a unique and innovative program for infants affected by life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. The Neonatal Comfort Care Program addresses the complex medical and non-medical needs of infants and their families. The interdisciplinary Neonatal Comfort Care Program includes a core team with a nurse coordinator, a social worker, a program manager, and Dr. Parravicini serves as medical director. Other NICU professionals, including speech pathologist, lactation consultant, child life specialist, psychologist, and chaplaincy collaborate with the core team. They work together to establish a state of comfort for babies in a compassionate, loving environment and provide support to families.
