Care Philosophy: My medical practice provides care for patients with acute and chronic infections including but not limited to, HIV, Hepatitis B and C, Sexually transmitted diseases, bone and joint infections, lung and heart infections, skin and soft tissue infections, gastrointestinal infections and diarrheas, post surgical and post transplant infections and other body system infections. Services also includes international travel counseling, pre-travel immunizations and vaccines, intravenous (IV) infusions.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Austin likens his work to that of a medical detective. He examines complex cases, looking for clues to identify the culprit and solve the problem. He enjoys the challenge of piecing together difficult puzzles and delivering solutions. After earning his MD at the Medical College of Georgia in 1976, Dr. Austin continued his education at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he completed his Internal Medicine internship, residency and fellowship, finishing in 1981. He has practiced in Infectious Diseases for over 30 years and in 2009 was appointed Director of Infusion Services at Walton Rehabilitation Health System in Augusta, GA. He likes hands on treatment of his patients and takes a very personal approach to patient care.
