Biography: I became interested in medicine as a child when I realized there was a predisposition to cancer and cardiovascular disease in my family. During medical school, members of my family were diagnosed with cancer, and that is when I made it my mission to pursue a career in oncology. Today I am board-certified in medical oncology and hematology, with a focus on breast oncology. \n After practicing in upstate New York for several years, I joined Novant Health in 2017. I love working with my patients and have continued to advance my knowledge of cancer treatments through participation in our clinical research trials program. Here, I've also found a passion for teaching medical residents. One of the key lessons I try to drive home with my students is to recognize the unique needs of every cancer patient and those of his or her family. My style of practice is patient-centric, with a strong emphasis on shared decision making to achieve the best outcome possible. \n When not at work, I enjoy spending time with family. Biography: I loved science and was a smart kid, so going to medical school was an easy choice. I had considered a few specialties, but once I delivered a baby, there was no question: I was meant to be an ob-gyn. \n I'm an American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists board-certified ob-gyn and have been caring for women of all ages for two decades. I have many clinical interests including low and high-risk pregnancies, HPV, minimally invasive surgery and menopause, to mention a few. \n One of the most important aspects of my practice is patient education. I try to use every interaction with a patient as a chance to empower them to make the best possible decisions for their health. \n However, what I value most about practicing medicine is the connections I make with patients and their families. I am often involved in one of the best - or, occasionally, one of the worst - days in someone's life. That's a privilege I never take for granted. \n Now that I've entered middle age, I have a new appreciation for my patients who are going through that journey, which can impact many aspects of our health. Due to this interest, I have done additional training and testing through the North American Menopause Society to become a certified menopause practitioner. \n Before relocating to North Carolina, I was honored to be named a "Milwaukee Top Doc" in 2022 by Milwaukee Magazine. \n With work and parenting five grade-school kids, life is busy. But when I have spare time, I love crafts of all kinds, especially scrapbooking, sewing and knitting.
