Biography: Shelby Sorensen, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant with LewisGale Physicians in Salem, Virginia. Ms. Sorensen earned her Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, followed by her Master of Physician Assistant Medicine from Radford University Carilion in Roanoke, Virginia. Ms. Sorensen is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). She is experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide range of heart conditions, as well as providing preventive care and diagnostic testing. She believes in delivering compassionate and evidence-based care, whilst encouraging and supporting patient advocacy among patients and their families.Outside of the practice, Ms. Sorensen enjoys spending time with her family and animals, as well as staying active with weight training and exploring the outdoors.

Biography: John Hynes, M.D., is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist with LewisGale Physicians Electrophysiology in Salem, Virginia. Dr. Hynes is a graduate of University of Texas Health Sciences Center, in San Antonio, and completed his internal medicine residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed two fellowships, one in cardiology and one in electrophysiology with Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine Hershey Medical Center. Prior to his medical studies, Dr. Hynes earned a Bachelor of Science at University of Texas Arlington. Dr. Hynes is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in adult cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He also is certified by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners as a clinical cardiac device specialist. Dr. Hynes has more than 20 years of specialized focus that includes supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, palpitations, implantable devices, and cardiac resynchronization therapy. In addition to caring for his patients, Dr. Hynes extensive research in the field of cardiology has been published in the American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Current Treatments in Cardiovascular Medicine. When not seeing patients, Dr. Hynes enjoys spending time with his family and taking long bike rides.
