Biography: Dr. Navinder Sawhney graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO in 2000. After completing his residency and internship at Washington University Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Dr. Sawhney completed his fellowships at the University of California at San Diego in both Cardiology and Electrophysiology. Dr. Sawhney specializes in arrhythmia management and is sub-specialty board-certified in cardiology and in cardiac electrophysiology. He is active in clinical research and has lead investigations on the optimal approach to catheter based ablation of atrial fibrillation and the optimal programming for cardiac resynchronization therapy devices. He has published numerous articles and written several textbook chapters on arrhythmia management. His clinical practice involves the management of atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardias, ventricular tachycardia, pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices. He has the most current techniques and is leading the program on left atrial appendage closure to help prevent strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Biography: Dr. Rod Serry is a Chicago native and attended Carleton College in Northfield,Minnesota. After medical school at RushMedical College and Internal Medicine residency at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke'sMedical Center, he completed fellowships in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at UCSD Medical Center. Dr. Serry trained further at El Camino Hospital (Mountain View, CA) in the minimally invasive treatment of complex peripheral vascular disease. Dr. Serry is board certified in both Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology, and has been practicing with Escondido Cardiology Associates since 2007. Dr. Serry's area of specialty is Interventional Cardiology, with particular interest in lower extremity revascularization to avoid amputation, aortic aneurysm repair, and carotid artery stenting. He maintains privileges at Palomar Medical Center, Pomerado Hospital, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, and UCSD Medical Center.

Biography: After receiving his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from UC Berkeley with honors, Dr. Hamed Bayat went on to receive his medical degree from UCSD School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at UCSD Medical Center. Dr Bayat completed a fellowship in Cardiology at UCSD Medical Center where he served the next two years as Assistant Professor of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Bayat has been practicing Cardiology with Escondido Cardiology Associates since 2002.

Biography: After receiving his undergraduate degree with honors from Tulane University in New Orleans, Dr. Christopher Gilbert went on to receive his medical degree from Tulane University. Dr. Gilbert completed his residency in Baltimore at Baltimore City Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was awarded Outstanding Fellow during his postgraduate fellowship in Cardiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr Gilbert has been practicing General and Interventional Cardiology with Escondido Cardiology Associates since 1982. He is Board Certified in Cardiology and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Physicians.

Biography: Dr. Mikhail Malek received his medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiology at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. Dr. Malek underwent intensive training in Interventional Cardiology at Saint Francis Hospital where he also served as Chief Medical Resident and Chief Cardiology Fellow. Dr. Malek is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, Egyptian Medical Association, California Medical Association, and San Diego County Medical Society. Dr. Malek is currently Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services at both Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital. He is also Chairman of the Cardiology Committee and a member of the Multi-Speciality Peer Review Committee at Palomar Medical Center. He has held past positions as Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Chairman of the Medical Education and Library Committee at Palomar Medical Center. He was voted ``Physician of the Year`` in 1995 by Palomar Hospital's Cardiac Care Unit and was selected as one of ``America's Top Physicians`` by Consumer's Research Council of America in 2006. Dr. Malek has been practicing Interventional Cardiology with Escondido Cardiology Associates since 1997. Biography: Dr. Jeffrey Gorwit completed his undergraduate degree at Cornell University where he was elected to the Tau Beta Pi Honor Society. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Gorwit completed his internship and residency at University Hospital in San Diego. He completed an NIH fellowship in Cardiology at University Hospital, San Diego, one of the world's foremost medical research centers. Dr. Gorwit is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. Dr. Gorwit began Escondido Cardiology Associates in 1976.
