Biography: Hi! I am a licensed clinical social worker with five years of post-graduate experience. I currently work with veterans in an outpatient mental health clinic that treats a wide variety of mental health symptoms. Additionally, I have significant history working with clients experiencing homelessness and interpersonal violence. I use empowerment and unconditional positive regard to put clients at ease and at the center of their behavioral health treatment. My clinical interests include addictive disorders, mood disorders, trauma-focused therapy, and liberation psychology. I recently completed a DBT certification course and am especially excited to share this new knowledge with clients. I have worked with people struggling with addictions in some capacity for 7 years and have been a counselor in that field for 4 years. Due to the nature of the drug and alcohol field, I also have experience working with individuals that struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar disorder. I want to dig deep with you and find the root of your thoughts and emotions and help you to change the behaviors that follow. I use a client-centered approach and work in motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and reality therapy. I also have expertise working with clients who have suffered from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. I am an experienced life coach, helping individuals to improve their self-esteem, self-confidence, and motivation. I assist clients in transitioning to new careers, or relationships, and identifying and achieving their life goals. My counseling style is direct and caring. I demonstrate good listening skills, and encourage clients to actively engage in counseling sessions, and follow through with the treatment plan that we mutually design. In therapy, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness Therapy.
