I have been to other therapists before that I never found to be helpful in the ways Dr. Linden has been able to help me. Dr. Linden has been patient with me while prompting my growth and always working in my best instance. I’ve learned to be aware of my own body and use it to feel more confidence in myself. It feels like Dr. Linden is a few steps ahead of me in figuring out where I need to go next to work towards my goals, and is creative and intentional to help lead me there. During this, he is straightforward and honest and requiring me to be honest with myself and not make excuses for myself. I truly feel I would not been able to make the same growth with a different therapist.

Truly Recommend William Linden
William Linden’s approach to therapy is unique and comes from a deep background and lengthy career in helping people. William’s approach is very direct. He takes time to learn about his patients, and then starts to peal back the layers of the issues one is working on to attempt to have the patient recognize and work on the underlying roots of these issues. As a patient, you have to put the time and work in along the way, and come prepared with thoughts and examples which helps William direct his therapy approach. William creates a safe environment for patients to be vulnerable and expressive - which are key to successful therapy. I have worked with several therapists over the years- William sets himself apart because he provides thoughtful tools and different role-play approaches for you to try. Working with William for close to a year, while I will continue to work on myself, I find that the issues I struggled with previously are getting easier to manage and deal with.

Does great work, 'real' therapy
I've seen three different therapists, but William was the only one that truly made me feel seen and understood as a person. He really puts in the effort and energy to connect and relate on a different level than other therapists.William challenges me to work on difficult things and doesn't let me slide back into bad habits without calling it out and guiding me toward steps to improve in a kind and gentle, but direct way.William's approach feels like it could greatly benefit anybody who is willing to put in work and effort toward improvement and bettering themself through therapy.

Dr. Linden has helped bring me from a state of 'emotional blindness' to learning to not only recognize the presence of my emotions, but also interpret and embrace them. He's also made me internalize that what I once viewed as a 'big insurmountable snowball' of problems, I now recognize as an aggregation of small challenges which he's given me the toolset to melt down. Finally, he's taught me to truly listen to myself as I speak to be more confident and aware. In his approach to therapy, Dr. Linden isn't afraid of uncomfortable silences or calling me out. I can't thank him enough.

Dr. Linden has helped me make more progress personally and emotionally than any other psychologist I have seen. I have had great therapists before, but after a certain point, I plateaued with my healing and was in a rut. I honestly was worried I would never be able to get to where I wanted to be emotionally. Dr. Linden, in the kindest way possible, pushed me to be brave enough to actually look myself in the mirror. He really understands people. He cheers you on, but doesn't let you be complacent with yourself. I am grateful for having found him. I feel a clarity, strength, and sense of purpose that I don't remember ever feeling. Without his understanding and guidance, I have no doubt that I would not be in this same place. Also, his honesty, sense of humor, and overall calmness are a breath of fresh air.

Dr. Linden is completely different from any other therapist I've seen (and I've seen quite a few!). He will challenge you, call you out, and make you uncomfortable. He will not ask you questions if you have nothing to say. He is direct, to-the-point, and efficient with his therapy. I have received more guidance from him in a few months than I have received in years with other therapists. I had unhealthy ways of thinking and Dr. Linden confronted me directly on it. He did not allow me to rant nor he did not ask me, "how has your week been?" In summation, Dr. Linden is a therapist for adults who want to MAKE the changes they want to see in their lives. He will not do any work for you, he will simply guide your thinking and help you realize things that you never did previously. He will never enable unproductive/unhealthy thoughts or behaviors, which is what has happened with ALL of my past therapists. I have a long way to go, but I am very happy with Dr. Linden. Try him out!

Interacting with Dr. Linden was different from any other communication I ever had before.  He was helpful and asked questions and gave unbiased observations and analysis. He is very experienced and pays attention most of the time. He pushed me to face problems I had not wanted to face, be ready to be pushed out of your comfort zone. You will get out of therapy only as much as you are willing to put in. Dr. Linden will not hold your hand or do the work for you; he will push you forward and help you analyze your choices, but you need to do the walking and mapping out.

I had trepidation going into the process. Dr. Linden was direct, and I felt I should give it a chance. We challenged each other several times during my visits. He offered options, some I thought were in conflict with my initial impressions. That said, exploring each choice brought me to the right conclusions, which he guide me to making on my own.

Dr. Linden is no non sense therapy and gets right to the point. Want to get your "stuff" under control, go see him. Want to whine and be a victim, go somewhere else. He is helping me tremendously. Was this helpful?

I've been seeing Dr. Linden for a little over 2 years. I was initially hesitant, as his demeanor and approach stand in stark contrast to psychologists I've seen in the past. But in this context, some discomfort is not a bad thing; it stands to reason that pushing past your comfort levels is going to feel strange and unfamiliar. He is straightforward, blunt when necessary, and will not hesitate to call you out if he feels you're not being honest with either him or yourself. He encourages awareness of how you present yourself and vigilance about making improvements toward greater self-confidence. If you find yourself in a particularly vulnerable and raw emotional place, Dr. Linden is compassionate and sympathetic, and he will guide you to channel those feelings into motivation for change. It's hard, sometimes frustrating work - but that's what it takes to make progress. I appreciate his persistence and emphasis on personal accountability, it makes for incredibly effective therapy.

I fully agree with the 5-star reviews from 11/13/18 and 11/30/19. Dr. Linden's style and direct approach are indeed different from most therapists, who are mostly content to sit passively and listen to you vent. Instead, he will challenge you to do the work that is necessary to effect change in your life. He is supremely skilled in detecting the tendencies and traits that bind us and limit our happiness and success. Of course, it may not be pleasant to hear the truth; if you are going to be offended and dismiss his honesty as "rude" or "opinionated" (like some other reviewers), then you likely need to gain more self awareness and realize your faults--precisely the goal of this type of psychotherapy. Only then will an engaged professional like Dr. Linden be able to guide and motivate you to break those habits and overcome the pretenses that constrain us all.

The reality is Dr. Linden WILL NOT always agree with you and he might even tell you something you don’t want to hear. But do you want a statue sitting across from you or a real person who is willing to be honest and challenge you? I got tired of paying therapists that didn’t dig deep enough or weren’t able to push past my defense mechanisms. Dr. Linden is the first real therapist I’ve seen despite having been to the offices of several others who claim to do the same work.

In 20+ years I have seen many therapists and psychologists. Dr. Linden is the most effective I have ever worked with. Indeed, being his patient is work. Don't expect to sip coffee and talk about weather. If you want someone to tell you "oh you're doing a great job", don't go see him. If you are willing to work your a** off to get to the bottom of issues, he's your man. I worked with him for two years and got so much out of it. This man picks up on every nuance, facial expression, and gesture.

Dr Linden is not very nice. He made rude comments about my personality. Spoke about other therapists in a negative way. I would get physically sick the day of my session. I finally left after five sessions and he.carged.my insurance a couple of dates that I didn't have an apt. He has very creative billing techniques. He made my cptsd worse. I got the impression he didn't like females.

It's not easy finding a good head doc and this one almost made me give up completely. He eats during sessions, he makes opinionated remarks, ( when I mentioned I was voting for HRC, he said he couldn't stand to hear her voice for 4 yrs), and he charged my insurance for four sessions AFTER I informed him on the phone I would not be continuing with his [lack of] services.
