i have been with val for as long as i can remember. she is very helpful. a bit brutal, but honest and tells ya how it is. but thats what i like about her. i have no problems getting a hold of her (usually via text), but i keep an opposite schedule of her. i sleep during the day. she keeps me on track with all my meds and listens when i need changes as needed. 1 of the best ive had!!

As others have said, Valerie is Brash, but this is good and she fully admitted it when I asked her after reading these reviews. She is brutally honest, has MANY years in the field (She's ANCIENT) and knows how to quickly identify what route to take on establishing decent mental health! Compared to other full on DR's of Psychiastry, she doesn't just keep giving you meds. She sets a plan for you....It's up to you to stick to it! She also has a philosophy that has worked wonders for me! "Leave the electronics and technology outside of your bedroom. All you need is a bed and dressers" or something similar to that. It has helped tremendously! Thanks Val, you're kick-butt!

Valerie Jansen is not good at her job. She is ill-prepared for appointments, slow to respond, disorganized, lacks the ability (or more likely the desire) to listen, and is generally unprofessional. The upside is she sure loves talking about herself and this alone will make you feel better about your own issues. She should no longer be practicing.

Worse psych provider ever
She left Clinical Associates and is on her own. During my last appointment she spent my visit trying to fix notifications on her cell phone that she said her grandson changed. I expressed a worsening of my condition and she never even addressed my concerns. I cannot get my medication refilled and has made me feel like a drug seeker. Had to contact her 3 times and she still sent in the incorrect dose to the incorrect pharmacy. Because of shortages of certain medications you have to call different pharmacy's to see what their stock is but then you cannot get her to send in scripts.

The only reason I have stayed with Val is that she renews my prescriptions when I need them. She doesn't listen well, takes a really long time to call in medications, switches medications when I didn't know she was going to. I could keep going, but will end with this note: Find someone else to go to if you truly want help!

Horrible! She was incredibly narcissistic, violated hippa in more ways than I could count. Like a narcissist, she abused her power over vulnerable and needy individuals.

Val is a great nurse practitioner. She may be a bit old fashioned but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. She goes beyond meds to treat you, for example, she is a big advocate of sleep. She believes that good sleep hygiene is crucial to good mental health. This has been proven to be a great thing for me as it is nice having someone tell me that I need to stop sleeping all day and staying up all night and wondering why I may be depressed. She has treated my insomnia that way and honestly made me feel way more normal than before. I have some pretty bad ADHD and she actually raised my dose slightly of my medication which really changed the way my life was going at that point. It was refreshing to visit a caregiver that does listen to me about my medicine concerns and doesn't keep me at a baby dose for 10 years. She is always on time with refills and every single time I have had even the slightest problem (and I drop her a note/leave voicemail) she is on the phone with me within 24 hours.

She will treat you, you must trust her. Ignore the – Jan 23, 2021

She was awful. I was the patient and she prescribed me a medication for something that wasn’t based on any of my previous psychological testing. She apparently couldn’t find my testing results so she just asked my mom what she thought was wrong with me and she just went off of that. Awful treatment towards patients. She told my mom to make sure that I take the medication and I asked her why she said that and she just flat out said she did not trust me when the whole point of getting care is to establish trust between the care provider and the patient. She also mentioned to my mom jokingly that it was legally ok to spank your kids. I physically cringed them she said that. Overall, it was a terrible experience and I do not recommend her for anything.

Awful care and treatment, didn’t even use my testi – Nov 07, 2020

My experience with Valerie Jansen today was VERY similar to the other ones I'm reading about on here. I just needed a new doctor (oh and turns out she's NOT a doctor) to prescribe my meds because my husband's job changed insurance - just wanted to continue the same plan - but she completely threw out everything my other doctors said. I walked in and she saw my pink hair and my visible tattoo, and she asked if I had other tattoos and made me show her them. I think she made up her mind about me right then. When I started crying, she brought my husband in from the waiting room and told him I had "gotten myself all worked up." Such a traumatizing experience that I'm not going to look for any other new doctors, just going back to my old one and paying full price.

I found her “bedside manner” offensive. She turned her back to us the entire time and would bark out demeaning comments to my 15 yr old depressed child. He felt berated by her brash personality and she kept interrupting me as his mother. I do not recommend her at all.

I will not be returning to Valerie. She wouldn’t listen to my situation and forced me to switch from a medication that was working to something she thought would work when I went to see her. She was rude, harsh, and just not a comforting person, especially for someone who is supposed to work with people with mental health problems. I am now seeing someone new who said what she prescribed me is out-of-date, fairly ineffective, and not even for my condition. Thanks, Valerie.

Valerie Jansen is a complicated and very poor provider of medical services. She is brusque, pushy and extremely judgmental in her general demeanor and bedside manner. Simply put, she isn't very friendly and this makes her extremely difficult to work with. I always felt her nature was condescending. This is a person who talks down to people she feels below herself. My medications were frequently mishandled and other physicians have advised me her practices are unethical, at best.

I have only been seeing Ms. Jansen for a couple months and she is one of the worst med management providers I have ever seen or heard of. She is always late to appointments, does not check her notes in regards to you and your situation, she constantly reschedules appts with no notice and she is flat out rude. She does not care about actual diagnosis and fat shames. She does not seem to know drug interaction issues and does not listen to life threatening drug reactions. See someone else

Margie, the staff member who brought me back, was absolutely wonderful. However, my experience with Ms. Jansen was not. She had me wait while she and two colleagues figured out how to read something. She turned her back to type on her computer instead of talking to me. She answered the phone during my appointment time and at one point asked me to step out of the office so she could call another patient. I felt that she was rigid and did not listen; only her way to handle treatment.
