I had a dime-sized sore, scaly nodule on my leg and wanted referral to dermatologist. Instead of referral, she told me it was eczema. I clearly expressed I did not think it was eczema and seemingly offended she said yes it is. Prescribed triamcinelone cream and told me to use for two weeks. That actually made my legs break out in hive-like reaction and did nothing to the spot. Finally received referral 3 weeks later. Derm took one look and diagnosed squamous cell carcinoma. Pathology report confirmed. She should have given me a referral right away. And now a month later I am awaiting consult with surgeon to remove. Critical time wasted with misdiagnosis!!!!
