Finding a counselor with a specialization in eating disorders is difficult. If you choose to use this provider, be aware of your progress and support systems. This counselor has been observed not prioritizing familial connections/supports and encouraging teens to leave their current social communities (i.e. High School) rather than helping them strategize and maintain these relationships. This has been observed with multiple high school aged clients deep in their eating disorders. I feel led to post this as it has come to my attention this has been observed with multiple clients, was our experience, and I have experienced a counselor who understood how to maintain healthy boundaries with our family for my child and re-build connections with us as a support post. Our child and family has paid a heavy price for time spent with this provider. I should have followed my intuition early on and discontinued private paying. Beware.
